Upgrading my parents setup on a budget. The setup: TV toslink into SMSL DAC into a Fosi Amplifer w/remote into passive speakers. Works great, BUT...
My dad is approaching 80 and the Fosi Amplifier is the BL20A. It does the job, but the remote is the kind where you have to very carefully aim directly at the amplifier and for him it's a pain to use.
So the question is, does anyone here have experience with a reasonable (sub-$500) preamp or amp with an easy-to-use remote that they would recommend? The real crux is just a remote that you don't have to aim directly at the amplifier/pre-amplifier to get it to work.
Also, has anyone here tried to use a universal remote to replace a Fosi or similar budget remote with better results?
