Hi all. I had a quick question.

I bought a pair of Audioengine A2 speakers, not the A2+, and it turns out the seller forgot to mention that the amp is dead. I have a power supply for them. I was wondering what opinion you guys might have on the built in amp vs using something like a Fosi or Douk amp to drive them? I'm looking at something fairly cheap so a Douk A5 or Fosi V3, Fosi TB10, that kind of thing.

I'm not saying I will be able to to fix the AE amp but if I could is it any better than one of these other amps? Realistically I'll poke at the AE amp for a couple hours and if I can't figure it out then so be it, but if these external amps are miles better then maybe it's not even worth the time.

TY

I only found the specs for the A2+.

It looks like it's not bi-amplified so that simplifies things a lot. It's rated 15W RMS, so be careful about overpowering them!

A lot of active speakers have built-in fixed EQ to improve frequency response. I don't know if it has that, and if it does the EQ is unknown. (That's probably more common in bi-amped speakers.)
