Hi Guys,

I have just bought a couple of WifiMan Sundara.
Now I just need an AMP + DAC.

I an considering:
Topping DX7 Pro = 359 USD (1,5 years old)
Topping DX3 Pro+ = 214 USD (new)
Topping E30 + L30 = 354 USD (new) + bluetooth device is must be included to the system
Topping E50 + D50 = 427 USD (new) + bluetooth device is must be included to the system

What do you think?

If you have any better setups, please do not hesitate to add. :)

Best regards,
Ole_S

I've had all of those, the Topping e30ii/l30ii is the best value, but the e50/l50 is amazing too for the quiet noise floor. Tons of power but also really great in low gain for IEMs.

Thank you for replying.
Then I need a separat amp/DAC for bluetooth playing.

Bluetooth is used for movie watching from the tv.

Other setups could be:

  • Chord Mojo 2: portable and very well playing dac/amp
  • Ifi Audio ZEN Signature Set 6XX

I currently use a SMSL H0100 amp and plan to buy a SMSL D0100 DAC which has Bluetooth. The SMSL C200 is also a good option and I believe there are quite a few others.

I have run my Sundara on 3 different amps:
Topping DX3: for the price it's great, tone control and decent power.
Topping d10s + Ifi Zen Can: another good amp. SE is good, power is fine, a little smoother in the high and the magical bass boost, great for my taste. Balanced = more power, a touch of authority
Topping D30pro/A30pro stack: only balanced no magical button but more authority and satisfaction. Maybe a little bit of EQ for my listening pleasure.

Go for an dac/amp with features you don't need lot of power.
Fiio K7 could be a good option, Se and balanced output, plenty of input, usb coax toslink and BT for less than 230$

Hi,

Thanks for replying.
You say that Sundara does not need not of power?

I have heard that these Planars require quite a lot of juice to run optimally.

They don't run on a phone, but on my lil DAP 190 mW / 32 ohms, it's OK

Modern desktop amp have enough power, set a budget, consider features and practicality, and enjoy. there is plenty of good choices with topping smsl fiio etc etc etc

DX3+ or Fiio k7, for the money they are both great.

I can see that EQ of the headphones is a very good idea.
Can you please recommend software for both IOS + Android?

Thank you.

Are you connecting your phone/tablet directly to the DAC? If so, what is your audio source, i.e. what streaming service are you using?

Hi Sukie,

Thank you for asking.

Yes, I am connecting my Android phone and Macbook directly to the DAC.
When using my Android phone, I am using USB AUDIO PLAYER PRO (software).

I am mostly using Qobuz or Tidal.

USB Audio Player Pro has the ToneBoosters Parametric Equaliser paid add on. I seem to recall that it's pretty good. You can then add in Amir's settings, or any of your choice. I use Oratory 1990s Harman settings.

One thing with the ToneBoosters PEQ, there isn't a "peak" filter type, you use "Analog Bell" instead. This one confused me!

What about the build-in EQ in USB Audio Player Pro?
Is not that good enough?

I think the built in one is the ToneBoosters one. You have to pay a small amount to use it. I haven't used USBAPP for a while though.
