it's a power cord... what's to show?
Just curious...

You just gotta love the 1000 amp wire with regular 15 amp connectors on each end. I'm beginning to believe people really are dumb enough to fall for this marketing garbage.
Faulty cord? Well, what do you expect: isn’t McIntosh an Italian company nowadays? Just sayin’.....
Well, sort of -- the holding company that owns McIntosh Laboratories was bought out by its own management, moved (back) to New York and renamed McIntosh GroupNo. McIntosh is owned by employees of the company. Also, a few months back, they shed their ownership of Audio Research.

Electronic parts supply into the USA from China is impeded by trade disagreement and Covid-19.
sorry, but what does that have to do with the price or rice in China?? (pardon the pun)...
If the preferred part is unavailable you use what you can get.
McIntosh using a Chinese part, even something like this would be scandalous! My initial post clearly implies this, but I am purely speculating, and we will likely never know.
Well, they certainly don't use US-only parts. Your amp is an MC462, right? If so, it clearly says "Handcrafted in USA with US and imported parts" right on the back. While that doesn't mean "China" automatically, it still makes you wonder where they corners.
It's also puzzling that they have the screw holes (covered with a sticker or such) to attach a proper IEC socket on the back of your amp (compare to the MC2152 socket https://www.mcintoshlabs.com/products/amplifiers/MC2152AN#gallery-5).
Is there any something wrong with Chinese products?
Not necessarily, but in many cases, stuff made in China is of an inferior quality for a multitude of reasons ... but even were it not, I'm not a fan (and many feel the same way) of their labor practices, their human rights record, their record on dumping into the environment, and their business ethics (pirating, copying proprietary technology, etc)..
Here... from the horses mouth why it's sketchy sometimes to go with Chinese made anything ...
