Am I Missing Features If I Purchase a AVR-X6700H?

I mean the whole premise is to fire opposing speakers simultaneously in phase so that they sum rather than cancel, so that will by physics only work in one spot in the room. In the seat next to you it will actually end up worse than not having ART at all due to that same correction causing a cancellation instead of summation.
According to this Youtube video, ART is improving a sound for all positions.
They talk about it from 04:00. They also talk that it's definitely coming until Christmas :)

It sounds like you are describing something similar to a double bass array for each opposing pair. I'm not sure Dirac ART works like that.

I've only scanned their marketing blurb briefly but it sounds to me more like they designate any speaker that is capable of producing sound below 150Hz as another virtual sub. Then they do something similar to MSO to find phase delays that will allow all of those virtual subs to work together (over a wider area than just the mlp).

I'll leave it up to the StormAudio or similar folks who have access to ART right now to comment on this.

If it was as bad a problem as you say it is, I would be hearing more complaints than raves, no? As a matter of fact, there are folks from the PAC line of AVRs who are wondering why they've been left out of the ART discussion!

Thanks. What would be best, is to give both options: perfect for one seat, or the MSO approach where it's less perfect but works for a larger area. Then one could specify what they want.

Like most room correction, I'm sure ART let's you do RC for alternate seating spots and allow you to save in a different slot. This what folks are already doing w/the base Dirac license.
