Aluminum cone/bullet shaped thing placed on top of speaker

Hope you’re doing well.

I’ve watched some of Steve Guttenberg’s videos lately and noticed he had some aluminum looking metal dome/bullet looking things on top of his horn loaded speakers. Can someone educate me on what they are and what function/purpose they serve?

Probably Totem Beaks, they were in vogue decades ago. Acoustically they do nothing, psychologically they can do all sorts of things. Like most tweaks.

As far as what they do, are their manufacturer’s claims and reviews a farce or has anyone on this forum had personal experience with them, good or bad? Just curious.

If they really do something to speaker resonances, it should be clearly evident in measurements. I can't find measurements anywhere. Zero plausible explanations of how they work either... and I can't think of any myself.

I'd say it safe to assume that they are complete bogus.

Way, way too high risk of false positives if you go that route.
