Alsozone /3e Audio GaN Monoblocks | New Comer

The term "HEMT," the exclusive 1% THD specification, the 108 dB SNR, and the 24–48 volt range all looked very familiar to me.
And why does 3E Audio specify a sample rate of 24-bit/48 kHz?
But, of course, I could be mistaken.

We will have to wait a little longer for the answer, but one thing is certain about the ACM8816 : this is a device with integrated GaN HEMT, a high-efficiency, high-performance mono Class-D audio amplifier with I2S digital input...

open loop like almost all other GaN amps?
It has internal feedback, similar to the TI TPA chips. PFFB will need to be implemented by the amplifier manufacturer.

This looks like the same idiotic feedback arrangement as in the Infineon design, meaning we are dealing with pre-filter feedback—which rules out the implementation of PFFB.

No. It doesn't necessarily rule out PFFB. The TI app note implementation adds another feedback loop from the output of the filters to the input of the TPA chip, nesting an outer loop over an inner loop.

Topping, and I believe 3e also, put an op-amp in the outer loop, making them composite designs.

These amp chips are designed to be easy to use. I think they could easily have implemented their feedback that requires the end user to connect the post-filter output back to the chip, similar to what Axign does. But that will require their customer to do things right and not screw up.

I also think the degree of necessity/benefits of PFFB is often overblown.

of course load invariant frequency response isn't a necessity/benefit if your load has constant or near constant impedance. How many speakers qualify?

Name one amp without it that performs as well as those with it...

The ACM8816 lacks the inputs required for PFFB. If you look at Infineon Merus technology—and why that specific feature isn't possible there either—the situation becomes clear; the ACM8816 faces the same issue.
That is why this has absolutely nothing to do with Axign or other ICs that *do* possess those inputs.

The internal pre-filter feedback found in Infineon Merus chips and the ACM8816 is, of course, a major advantage, as the developer doesn't have to worry about—or optimize—it, which drastically reduces development effort. These ICs use an internal predictive algorithm to virtually incorporate the external filter, a method that generally yields solid results.
However, the developer loses any opportunity to optimize the feedback itself, since the process takes place entirely within the IC.
Yet, that is precisely why manufacturers like 3E Audio are able to extract so much more performance from the TPA3251/55.

We had a thread on this 2 years ago. The effect on the FR response is usually with ±1 dB at <15 kHz, and typical loudspeaker frequency response often deviates significantly more.

Post filter feedback class d amps are superior performers. It's a personal decision whether that added performance is of added value.

You are right. I missed that the ACM8816 has only digital input. That will make PFFB difficult if not impossible.

As far as I know it is GaN FET Power IC Mono amp. This is a chip based amplifier as reported by 3E Audio.
If you do a quick web search, the list of candidates for the chip is quite short... (assuming it's based on a third-party manufacturer).

"Thank you so much for joining us and provide your great feedback on our new product launch.
we would like to share you that our new GaN Mono will officially launch at 1/Sept.
for these who got the top and high-scoring, we will contact you soon for sample shipment.
Best regards,
ALSOZONE Support Team"

Don’t know how many people entered into giveaway with the link I shared, but I got email this morning that I got picked up for giveaway…..
So should be getting hands on experience on this new GaN amplifier soon.

PE. and I will see if untrained ears can even realize any difference as I have their other amplifiers running regularly- PAM 153 and 3e A7.

anyone know when the preorder amps are supposed to ship? the web page URL says it ships in august but that obviously can't be correct because the web page didn't get activated til september 1st??? any other lazy people excited for the auto on/standby mode? and adjustable sensitivity of auto on?

what is a good power supply option if you opt for the no power supply on amazon?

My take would be as good as yours, Any decent 48v 5a psu would do the job, does not have to be anything specific other than able to deliver rated power.
Unless someone already have psu or want to use any specific type or brand, going with amp + psu is probably much better option.

F.e. the Aiyima 48v10a GaN psu. Or the 5a version. Or the ones 3e bundles.

You might find them on Ali too.

There are also cheap ones that are not of the same quality.

With most amplifiers—and especially those from 3E Audio—it makes little sense to order the amplifier without a power supply unless you already own one.
You should also avoid using a single power supply for two mono amplifiers, as this can lead to mutual interference and effectively negate some of the advantages of using mono amplifiers.
