I just bought a Eversolo Play CD Edition with a discount from a convention. I have multiple Wiim devices as well as the Wiim Ultra, 2x Pros and a Wiim Mini. I have no issues with the outputs as it has two digital outputs a Coax and USB Audio which is easily converted to optical and or coaxspdif with the SMSL PO100, or even AES EBU or I2s with other cables or the pro version of the PO100.
I Bought this because I'm going to try to set it up with ripping CDs to my Roon Nucleus Core. This thing is supposed to rip to FLAC and also grabs the meta data and save to a NAS device including art! That is insane for a stand alone device. It plays gapless and according to the review by Stereophile can do it with 3mm gaps while red book cd players are only required to be able to handle .2mm gaps. As a CD transport this thing is pretty amazing. It grabs cover art for CDs you play on it, I mean come on, that's awesome. It also works with Eversolo control tv if you have a Google TV or Boundless display if you have a browser on the TV. No HDMI earc but that's fine. In terms of streaming it has so many options and the touch interface is what I'm after as this will be sitting next to my recliner. I use the Wiims mostly for wifi lossless streaming of my turntable, to different areas of my home and my other streaming devices. I don't care about the subwoofer out as my Wiims will handle that as this sends a clean digital signal to the Wiims.
I rip my music based on dynamic range to my RME UCX 2 and what issue of the source I can find. I'm tired of people saying vinyl is worse then CDs or downloading the music. The true answer is it depends. Vinyl, CD and downloaded music/streaming music use different mastering and compression. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers Californication 2012 reissue on vinyl has so much more dynamic range then the CD or downloaded version. Avoid the 1999 cd version as it's heavily compressed with nearly no dynamic range. Look at Dr.Loudness for the databases of artists and albums by dynamic range. Vice Versa many CDs have better dynamic range then Vinyl or downloaded streams. I mean the year The CDs or vinyls are released even makes a difference. The biggest difference you can make in audio is the source, if you have a heavily compressed version no matter how much you spend on gear or measurements it isn't going to fix that.

Just for those that own the Eversolo Play CD Edition, the SMSL PO100 which takes USB audio and has been tested by someone here, "VintageFlanker" as being transparent, outputs both Coaxial and Optical at the same time aka simultaneously. So if you have it going to a Wiim Pro Plus to wirelessly stream to other Wiim devices and a separate DAC AMP you don't need to switch between the two and it's digital lossless. I now have an optical out and two coaxial outs! Brilliant!
Got a FiiO Air Amp to play with for a couple of weeks to see how my perception would fare, "downgrading," from a standalone DAC plus pair of B200 monoblocs into a TPA3255-based Class-D integrated, and, as expected, could not detect any real (detrimental) change to the sound.
With that test out of the way, I decided to return the Air Amp to Amazon and get treat myself to a full-blown Eversolo PLAY, which adds Apple Music (native high-res lossless via sideloaded app) and Qobuz Connect support (both which Air Amp lack) not to mention the eye-candy build and very big spectrum analyzer screen. Once I got my subwoofer re-leveled/integrated to the speakers again after switching from Air Amp to PLAY, I can confirm again that any difference, if it even exists (my speakers are nominal 6-8ohms, so lack of PFFB in PLAY isn't a huge deal) is not noticeable. The sound is excellent, beautifully enjoyable, full-spectrum sound with no distortion. Fully transparent as far as I'm concerned in my room with my speakers/sub at my main listening position.
I have plenty of experience from the past with Eversolo's wonderful software (the only platform I consider comparable to WiiM's for combined ease of use with functionality and reliability/stability) and am very happy to return to it after relying on basic Roon Ready devices for the better part of a year. WiiMs are nice also, and I had considered the WiiM Amp Ultra as well, but the problem is the lack of native Apple Music and I really didn't want to faff with a separate iDevice inputting digitally into the WiiM and Lysoniq for remote control, not to mention the fact that LinkPlay refuse to make the WiiM Amps Pro or Ultra in a proper black enclosure (literally my entire system is completely black, so the Space Grey WiiM devices would stick out like a sore thumb!).
