"I am going to let the public determine the accuracy"
So you watched the vid vs cut and past the title of the vid? I'm doubting it. Regardless, taken in context of what he says (3:42 to 4:04 in particular), it makes more sense and not unreasonable. Sure, he should say, something like "...and I look forward to those with the knowledge and technology to examine the video and give their opinions as to what that is" but his point was, rather than keep it hidden from the public, his job as a public employee, is to release it and allow the public to judge for themselves. I "get" what he was saying, and the title of the vid by the channel was intentionally geared to create faux outrage per usual. Context, again, matters.

A cornerstone of contemporary "research"...

Or, in other words, "under the dicks of midgets" as opposed to the old "on the shoulder of giants"

Agreed, and unfortunate, and we see it on all and any topics today. The 'net allows anyone to voice their opinion about anything, and people now assume that because we have equal access to voice opinions, all opinions created equal. That's very problematic, totally expected. These are interesting times to be sure.

My eyes, common sense and a hill house with a view to the sea.
I have seen enough of this crap people do throwing their bags.

OK, so the pilots of the USAF MQ-9 drone with a very high tech multi-spectral targeting sensor suite can't identify a plastic bag being pushed by the wind and sent a missile at it. Oy vey...

Contrarian/skeptic Mick West, who is often as biased as the other side of the UFO/UAP coin that think everything is a NHI craft, is probably more right than wrong in his general conclusion of that vid:

They follow orders, don't they?

I'll say it again, UAP is the God's gift to anyone who want to blur a picture, they are handy as hell and can be used at any purpose, it's a handy general purpose explanation.
$100k is a tiny price to pay for this.

The thing is, what else has happen somewhere else hence the need to shift attention?

In the future, the ultimate judgement will be handled/distributed by a contentious set of competing LLMs.
They will end up being like a circle-jerk [incest?]... getting information from each other.
Only because the risks of AI chocking off human inquisitiveness are as real as symptoms of any dependency.
Thus, starving us of new knowledge and atrophy of human critical-thinking muscle.
I am already realizing my common-sense reasoning can be swiped away.
Guards UP!

Well, it looked kind of squishy. Considering that there was a camera in place to track it, I’m thinking target practice. Against a soft, hard to track target. Has this even been mentioned?

NASA today, with excitement, announced that they have found the strongest evidence yet that life existed on Mars in the distant past.

It should be noted that they are NOT confirming that life has been found, but instead they have found what they believe is a signature of life. They will be publishing a peer-reviewed paper on the data analysis.

This thread consistently outperforms the humour thread. :)

The findings were published yesterday. Unfortunately, funding to return samples collected by the Perseverance rover to Earth have been removed in the 2026 budget request.

Last line of abstract:
“Ultimately, we conclude that analysis of the core sample collected from this unit using high-sensitivity instrumentation on Earth will enable the measurements required to determine the origin of the minerals, organics and textures it contains.”

Link to paper:

Perhaps it is a government cover-up that will not really be explained by “credentialed experts” in a really long video with annoying production values.

Annoying how many headlines are claiming exactly that.

Even I cannot tolerate all of it (or take it seriously), and am skipping some posts.

Those are clearly not here to have a serious discussion on the topic vs dumb memes, condescension, irrational comments, etc are added to ignore file to help with signal to noise ratios in this thread. Disagreeing is expected and even warranted, the rest, not so much.

OK, so you wanna go with a conspiracy inside a conspiracy? If that works for you, all good by me.

"conspiracy" ?
Are we talking about the oldest trick in the book for some thousands of years?

Who made the worst damage to power historically?
The curious and the ones easily drawn by cults and mystery as they tend to gather as groups and once they get in tend to stick no matter what (applies to any "closed" group, even audio! )

What's the best way to avoid them? Shifting their attention to something impressive with debatable explanations.
Practice started as fires started by the "enemies" , long, long ago.

You can take it from there.

If you have been following this thread, you know the answer, and lengthy mentions of government psyop around UFO/UAPs. That's a large part of the phenomena as discussed. If you want to hold onto the ideas the DOD told the USAF piloting the drones to shoot a missile at a plastic bag as a Gulf of Tonkin diversion, fine with me. More likley, they "leaked" that vid intentionally to the Congressman add more noise to the signal, but all conjecture as this time.

I went a little back in history than that, Babylonians, etc.
But yes.

The worst enemy of the society in my book are not "unknown" phenomena but a very well known one:
It's called the "useful idiot" in some cultures and the "newfound faith zealot" to others.
Often combined.

As long as the power of science and knowledge has been recognized, was kept as the utmost value.
We're grieving about the Alexandrian Library burned by the enemies. But ask who burned the Library of Pergamum who was equal or greater.
People prefer to burn the work of centuries than delivering it to others.
