All About UFO's

I'm sort of going to poke fun at you, but surely you realize the things that make for big changes often are not at all anticipated. Some are, some build over time, while others just up and surprise everyone.
I mean... MQA is a salient example.
;)

An example of one of those that could though seeming not likely now. There are those theories that human consciousness is a result of quantum effects. Now I think it is a long shot, but if it is so, and a few discoveries are made (which would probably be unforeseen) it isn't too far beyond imagining we could create genuine artificially created, but real intelligence. Not AI, but man made I.

I think there is something fundamental about quantum mechanics we are totally missing. If we trip over it, or figure it out there is a good chance that would be transformative beyond imagining. It might happen next year, it might happen next century, it might never happen.

If you don't know, the Ptolemaic system of the earth centered universe held sway for a long time after the Copernican system with a sun centered theory. The latter was fundamentally correct, but former was actually more accurate in forecasting celestial events. When Kepler understood his laws regarding elliptical orbits everything fell into place. A fundamental thing about how it worked was understood and not only did Copernican forecasting of the movements of the heavens become far more accurate than the old system it was a step toward knowing much more. I think some day something like that will become clear to scientists about quantum mechanics. We'll not just know how to calculate something useful, we'll really know how it works.
Calculation is understanding. We have no idea what gravity is, but we can calculate.

As someone who has an actual degree in physics, I have to say that imo that is 50/50 at best. Again imo, I don't think we have had a significant (to the world as a whole) breakthrough since the discovery of fission, and the knock on effects that had on several fields of study!
As the the universe is mostly matter we know little about, powered in large part by an energy source we know literally nothing about, I'd say humility is warranted and there's plenty left to learn in the world of physics.

I'm well aware, even my example of fission, was several decades in the making. However when Humans were actually able to achieve it, the entire world quickly understood the significance of it.

Honestly I think we believe we know way more than what we actually do, and in a way that circles back to the entire UFO topic.

Arrogance and ignorance is an ugly, yet common combination.

Are UFOs real? Historical markers say yes

Pascagoula, Miss., is known for building Navy ships, but city officials say it's actually famous for two other things.

First, it’s the birthplace of Jimmy Buffett. The city put up a historical marker outside his childhood home.

And then there’s the second thing: space aliens. The city put up a marker for them too.

“It was the evening of October 11, 1973 when two local shipyard workers went fishing,” the marker says, at the edge of the Pascagoula River.

The sign says Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker spotted a football-shaped craft, which took them aboard.

“Inside the craft, Hickson was examined by a robotic eye, then both men were deposited back on the river bank and the space ship shot away,” the marker says. Stamped at the bottom is the seal of the city of Pascagoula and the Jackson County Historical and Genealogical Society.

I think this is not that controversial.

After all, general relativity and quantum mechanics are famously incompatible.

Neither explains where spacetime comes from, and their models of black holes seem to lack plausibility, among other things. I

Well this certainly rises to the level of a specific claim that I was complaining about not getting earlier. Is this guy actually credible though?

He used to be a well-respected theoretical physicist when he was in his 50s but he's 85 now...

Is that a yes or a no? ;)
I don't know enough about him to provide an opinion. As noted in his Wikipedia entry, he has credentials, but also was involved with the CIA's STARGATE program. Some people seem to be of the opinion that anyone involved with that CIA program automatically are suspect. I don't know whether that is a fair assessment, though.

What he says is interesting, but not enough to convince me. I just view it as one more data point.
