Have had a pair of AKG 361 for a couple years now. I listen almost exclusively to classical and choral music though occasionally thrown in some Celtic, bluegrass, and even soul. I don't necessarily have any complaints about the AKG 361, but as with so many things I can't help but wonder if there is greener grass somewhere I might be missing.

Is there an obvious closed back upgrade path from the 361 that offers better sonics for classical (orchestral, opera, choral)? Has to be closed back and being easy-ish to drive (I use my iphone with a fiio ka11).

Beyerdynamic dt700 pro x is the only ony one i personally have had that might fit the bill.
Not a fan of closed backs myself but tried a few.
Meze 99 if you can stretch that far are excellent.
Beyerdynamic dt 1770 not much better sound than the 700, not worth the extra cost.
Focal elegia, sound wise was best by far but too high a clamping force for me, only for small heads.
