[AIYIMA R&D Feedback Wanted] — New DAC for A07 Max / T1 PRO
Hi audio friends

We’re working on a new desktop DAC designed to perfectly match your A07 Max power amp and T1 PRO tube preamp — same size, same look, better sound!

We’re building it with a full aluminum case and color-matched options, to give your setup a clean, unified aesthetic.
Now, we need YOUR opinion on two possible directions

Option A: Pure DAC Version
Inputs: USB / COAX / OPTICAL
Outputs: RCA ×1, SUB OUT ❓ (Do you use Sub Out? Let us know!)
Chipset: ES9038Q2M or AKM4493S + XMOS XU-316
Supports: PCM 768kHz / DSD512
Design: NO volume knob — meant to be paired with a power amp or preamp
✨ Extras: Input memory, standby mode, small screen, input indicators

Option B: DAC + Headphone Amp Combo
Inputs: USB / COAX / OPTICAL / Bluetooth ❓ (Should we add BT?)
Outputs: RCA ×1, Headphone: 3.5mm + 4.4mm ❓ (Need both? Balanced?)
Chipset: ES9038Q2M or AKM4493S + XMOS XU-208
Supports: PCM 384kHz / DSD256
Design: WITH volume knob — standalone DAC/headphone amp
✨ Extras: Volume memory, headphone/speaker switch, input LEDs, etc.

We’d love your feedback!
✔️ Which version would you actually buy?
✔️ Do you use SUB OUT? Bluetooth? Dual headphone jacks?
✔️ What do you really want from a desktop DAC?

Your comments will help us build the perfect DAC for real-world Hi-Fi lovers — especially those pairing with the A07 Max & T1 PRO!

Thanks in advance,
— Team AIYIMA

For the DAC, sub out without volume control is almost useless. Only people who control volume upstream (i.e. in a computer) will be able to use it.

In my opinion Bluetooth for a headphone amp is very convenient to have.

Yes, please include: headphone out (just 3.5mm not balanced is fine) and regular RCA output in the back for active speakers.

No need to include: sub out / balanced outputs / bluetooth / remote control

Option B: DAC + Headphone Amp Combo NO SUB OUT
Inputs
: USB / COAX / OPTICAL / Bluetooth IN and OUT
Outputs
: RCA ×1, Headphone: 3.5mm + 4.4mm NO
Chipset: ES9038Q2M or AKM4493S + XMOS XU-208
Supports
: PCM 384kHz / DSD256
Design: WITH volume knob — standalone DAC/headphone amp
✨ Extras: Volume memory, headphone/speaker switch, input LEDs, etc.
Good if input alim is USB C, BETTER if include inside the box !
BETTER if the USB C can also deliver output voltage (for my DAP, Smartphone...)

I think what is missing in the market (and what I personally want) is option B, especially if it can be powered by USB. The only product offering this feature-set (that I know of) is the S.M.S.L DS100 (CS43131), which has a design flaw in the form of frequent clicks showing up in virtually all content. Other options are very expensive and can't be powered through USB.

I'm using a 2.2 setup: left and right main speakers, plus left and right subwoofers. I need balanced XLR inputs and outputs for both the main speakers and the subwoofers.

Option C: DAC + Headphone Amp Combo
Inputs
: USB / COAX / OPTICAL / Bluetooth
Outputs: RCA ×1, Headphone: 3.5mm, SUB OUT with High Pass filter
Chipset: ES9038Q2M or AKM4493S (the cheapest) + XMOS XU-316
Supports: PCM 768kHz / DSD512
Design: WITH volume knob — standalone DAC/headphone amp
✨ Extras: Volume memory, headphone/speaker switch, input LEDs, etc., standby mode

Option 2 but add sub volume knob, sub crossover knob, bt, and most importantly arc and earc hdmi input for direct audio extraction. They’ll fly off the shelves with those options.

If your goal is to match the A07 Max, a DAC-PREAMP with remote control might come in handy for people running two amps in mono mode

Option 1
Pure DAC
No Volume
No Bluetooth - A feature found on the T1 PRO (unless it's LDAC)
Sub out - Mono L+R LPF 20hz-120hz (T1 PRO It has a full-range auxiliary output)
An HPF on the RCA output (with bypass) is desirable; it makes more sense with the Sub Out.

Other option : DAC
Input
: USB / COAX / OPTICAL / Power
Output : RCA ×1, 3.5 headphone out
Chip : ES9039Q2M Dual or AKM4493S Dual + XMOS XU-316
Support : PCM 768kHz / DSD512

The desired price is less than $80
I'm currently using 07 max and t1 pro. I use dac topping e30 ii.

It's already going to be released as the Aiyima A7 DAC. That's fast. I heard they're giving free gifts to YouTubers. I'm confident in promoting it...

Actually, the A7 is a different model.

I hope the A07MAX also has an improved version with 12V TRIGGER. I hope it works with just one switch from Family dac to t1 pro + a07max.

I'm not a big headphone user, so I would see that as a 'nice to have'. However, if there was a headphone stage it has to be a good one - has to measure well and drive most 'phones otherwise its a huge turn-off.

Volume control please.
Remote would be useful.
Small screens are annoying.
I like the idea of a Sub out and, if you are going to do that, then a High-Pass filter for the mains makes a lot of sense.
Not interested in balanced headphone out (but I'm not a big headphone user). Different socket sizes does make sense.

Whatever you include, just make sure it measures well and works - no reliability issues, no poorly implemented updates

Good luck

guys, adding a headphone jack would implicitly turn the DAC into a DAC/amp combo rather than a strictly digital‑to‑analog device. Not a big fan. A DAC should have one purpose - being a DAC only.

These days a lot of affordable hi‑fi gear packs Bluetooth, conversion and a full headphone amp into almost every box, instead of offering simple, purpose‑built, clean separates.

@AIYIMA looks good, also the A07max form factor is great, specially if you had space enough for balanced outputs (?)
Anyways, my question is, what does it mean ch1 ch2 ch1-2? Does it have two sets of outputs or is it the sub out referenced in post 1??
