AIYIMA D20 – Decoding in Development

Get a Topping D50 III and be done with it. Top performance for little money. I highly doubt the Aiyima D20 will be better than the D50 III.
I had this on my list already. Is the 12V trigger working to start/stop the device with just the remote of the A20?

Yes. I have it in a setup with an Aiyima A70 amp, and the 12v works great. I control the volume with the DAC remote. The D50 III is very detailed and quite analytical--it works best with warmer sounding speakers. The only gripe I have with it is that op amps are soldered, so there is no way of modifying its sound signature. (I know the endless talk about op amps--I may be delusional, but for me they make a noticeable difference, especially in dacs.)

One could easily just hook up any DAC, but I personally care about the aesthetic side—building a matching set of devices with high-quality audio. The A20, T20, D20, and P600 make for a stunning and versatile long-term setup. It’s just missing a matching subwoofer (any chance the company is planning a special edition sub for the anniversary?)

Thanks, this is great news. I’ll spend some time this weekend doing a bit of research – it’s always an important part of the journey . I already own a few DACs (Denafrips, Chord, Schiit), but I’d like to complete this small system with the D20 mainly for aesthetic reasons, like many others here. And for the fact that I might be able to control it with a single remote (probably not an argument anymore after seeing your feedback)

Regarding op amps – I get your point about the endless discussions. I’ve tried a bit of rolling myself and did notice a very positive change with a very specific setup (burson v7 in the a80), but at the same time I don’t see them as the holy grail, not every change is a good change. In my case it even doubled the price of the amp, which arguably makes it a bit questionable when you could just step up to a higher tier to begin with. So I’ll just keep it simple and trust my own ears. Could also be that a DAC would/will not benefit, I have no clue.

I've been waiting a long time for the D20, but it never arrived!

Since this is my third system (the third being my computer audio system), I decided to use Yamaha NS10M Pro speakers.

I needed a USB DAC for the Aiyama A20 + T20 system.

And I was using an Asus Strix Soar motherboard via an RCA cable.

And now I've bought a Fiio M21 + a 4.4mm + XLR cable.

And I'm wondering if the Aiyama D20 will ever come out.

Maybe someday in the distant future I'll buy one!

Currently, I'm using the Yamaha NS10M Pro + Aiyama A20 + Aiyama T20 + Fiio M21 XLR 4.4mm line-out + Xiaomi power bank.

How did you order?

View attachment 525673 You meant it didn't release (yet).
Sorry for my English. I'm using Google Translate.

What I meant is that I still haven't bought the Aiyama D20 (even though I've been waiting since February!)

I had budgeted for the D20.

But no one thought the D20 would last this long.

In the end, I bought the Fiio M21 + case + 4.4 XLR cable ‍♂️.

And this M21 player handles everything perfectly. It works

via USB ASIO,

is powered by an external battery

and has 4 CS43198 DACs.
