AIYIMA A80 Power amplifier Software board and remote control Upgrade firmware adding for $23 includes new board, remote and the tools needed

1.Added a large digital display, including main volume, high and low sound, mute, and mode switching

2.Added the option to disable standby mode (boot is turned on by default to prevent the machine from overheating)

3.Added a dual VU dial to adjust the position of the hands of other VU watches for more accuracy

4.New high and low tone adjustment button for remote control

Good on @AIYIMA for actively supporting and developing their products post-launch!

Shame on their marketing dept though for unironically using the shopping channel before/after effect:

Instantly cheapens and discredits the brand

Lol. Let's just grey out the old stuff and call "3 styles" limiting, effectively dissing our own product. :p

I think the currently available version has the upgrade. I just got one and it has all of the features named in the link.

Yes, purchased Nov 1, 2025 and it came with the new screens. Why it would need a new LCD board for a new UI is not very clear to me. I guess they didn't integrate an update process to the LCD MCU? Very basic function that they overlooked, any MCU in your product should have the ability to be updated.

Just purchased with Amazon and got the old version...
Interesting. I bought mine from Amazon. I did see recent reviews that mentioned receiving the old version. IIRC the product copy mentions it being the upgraded version.

Mine wasnt shown as the new or old version. Looking at the image on Amazon, I see only 3 options for the display, so I guess its the old version "explicitely". So far so good though. Sounds good, have enough power for my needs. PSU is a 48V/5A, so according to the manufacturer, power is 102Wx2 8ohms (as opposed to 150Wx2 with the 48V/10A PSU).

With that being said and knowing there is an updated version, I am tempted to return it.

I just performed my update with the new board. When I opened the unit the connections were all glued in place with epoxy. So, some extra steps but I was able to perform the operation and the new volume feature is welcome for sure.

How did you perform the operation with the epoxy? I'm about to open mine this week. Thanks!

I put some isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and applied it to the epoxy. After leaving there for a couple minutes, I loosed the adhesive with a very small flat head screwdriver. It was difficult to get one of the ribbon holder mechanisms to release but it worked eventually. New update is an improving in usability and worth the cost. I'm interested to hear if your has the epoxy on the original board or not. I may have had an early unit. It's curious that their instructional video does not show the glue at all so I wonder if some/most did not include it. Good luck!

Thanks! Trying to swap the board right now, I will update with my findings

So, just did the upgrade:

- There was epoxy on the connections. Broke the black plastic part on the old board. Thankfully, new board has the part.
- After the upgrade, plugged in the PSU and there was a spark! I had fear that the amp would then be dead. Which is not the case, working well so far and new features are working.
- Love the new "visual" with dual old-school VU meter.

Note that I previously contacted Aiyima about the board upgrade since I just bought the amp and got the "old" version. I provided my receipt and they sent me the board upgrade for free. Great support!

I dont think its epoxy, more like some type of shellac, its brittle and cracks loose easily when you carefully grasp the retainer with needle nose pliers and give it a little twist

That's nice, mine was very stubborn to the force only method. Glad it snapped off more easily for you.

Concerning new version, it seems that they upgrade chipset with PFFB ( I don't know what it is but seem to increase quality sound

mmm the product could be exactly what I am looking for as I am considering a 2nd amp

When I went with a Fiio K13 DAC rather than the Topping DX5 II I missed out on the VU/FTH display but now I can have that with the A80 AND have a 2nd DAC!
