Depends on which speakers you use. Is this a desk setup? If so, there's not much of a reason to use passive speakers imo (I say that, though I have passive speakers at my desk lol)
I mean the current one? That's what I use, but the Fiio JM21 is basically a portable DAP/DAC with 2 CS43198 DACs, which have a line output, connected to the MR5.

I meant to say, whether or not the aiyima a80 will be better than your current setup depends on what speakers you pair them with. If you get high quality speakers (Ascilab comes to mind) then yes absolutely they will sound way better.

May I ask where you plan to put the A80? (Tv room, desktop etc)

I understand. I definitely want some good quality speakers with it that don't limit it. I haven't figured out where I want the A80 yet. For now, around the PC, and later somewhere next to the TV, with floor-standing speakers and a sound source independent of the PC.. I'm mostly curious about whether this amplifier is so good that it's worth investing in some more expensive speakers. You can currently buy it on their website for $210, which is a pittance compared to its capabilities. They write good things about it everywhere, but it's really so cheap that it's hard to believe that you can create something great for this money. That's why I'm curious about whether it's really that good.

Every speaker on the planet will limit it. I mean that literally. Speakers are almost always the weakest link. You could buy the Aiyima and KEF Blade 2s, and the KEFs would distort the signal more than the amp.

The Aiyima will only begin to limit the speaker if you play very loudly, and have low sensitivity speaker

The Aiyima A80 is a very good amp. It will work great with a computer USB without an external DAC and will support a range of speakers including the spectrum between inexpensive and pricey. Speakers should be capable of handling the power but otherwise there is no particular issue with matching the amp and speaker and better speakers are always a plus. You can use active speakers with the aux jack but you will be wasting most of the amp’s capabilities.

Hello Dillis :)

Do you have a measuring device that can confirm your statement ?

That said, the power available at the output will depend on the gain provided by the amplification pre-stage, not only on the power of the power supply used... ;)
Hi, not at all.
Only my ears comparing like 6 speakers system on 4 ampli with 2 cables, in the same room. And a random spectrometer app

o_O:facepalm::rolleyes:

Do you know if Aiyima has released a new version of the A80 with a fix or improvement on the load dependency?

I got mine in December and at that time their support people said there had been no updates to the load dependency. I suspect any improvement would appear in the successor to this model, not as an update, given its low cost.

BTW this question was already answered by me above.

But I must again state: There is nothing wrong with this amp. I like it better the more I listen to it.

Did anyone buy their A80 of an AliExpress seller I see they now down to NZ$260 or US155

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything. Does anyone use it with a smart plug to power it on? Is the amp fully active after power loss or does one need to switch it back on manually?
