Aiyima A20 Mono - New Comer

WiiM Ultra (not WiiM Amp Ultra) 100% works with external DACs, it has digital outputs. I have used it that way, combined with the subwoofer output, via both, USB output to separate DAC for the speakers as well as one of the two S/PDIF outputs (optical or coaxial) again, simultaneously with the subwoofer output, and full bass management in all cases.

So if I want to preserve my system and introduce HPF via Wiim Ultra, here's how I should connect right?
PC ->WiiM ultra -> DAC -> amp -> speakers
aaaaaaaaaaaaaa-> subwoofer

And I also heard 1 downside of minidsp is that since it has to convert digital from dac to analog, and from analog back to digital before going into the amp, there's quite some loss going on during the conversions.

I have a power strip with a remote switch which I use to power on amps and dacs (and off) at the same time.
Currently all the amps and dacs switch on when the power strip switches on as they have knobs and flick switches which physically remain open.
if this is powered off at the wall and then powered back on again, does it auto turn on or does the button(s) have to be pressed to power on when powered on at the wall?
I dont have 12v triggers on the current system btw but am looking to hot-wire some thing if the power strip wont work.
Bonus question, it has auto off after 20 mins but does it have a sense to switch on?
Bonus bonus question: Will these be reviewed here soon, do we know?

Didn’t know a PC was involved, but if your PC has optical out, you connect it to the WiiM’s optical in so it’s digital.

The subwoofer should attach to the WiiM’s subwoofer output, not to the speakers.

Consider getting a Panamax M8 AV Pro, which has four 12V-trigger-controlled power plugs.

Quite a few reviewers (Amazon, Aiyima website, AliExpress) report a problem with the auto stand by: the Aiyima A20 mono is turning off when listening to music at low volumes. Unfortunately, the 12v trigger doesn't bypass the auto-power function.

Don't think it has optical out, just like most pc in the world. Shouldn't there be a usb cable to connect between pc and the wiim ultra?

My dac is Topping D50iii and my amp is Aiyima A07 Max. The miniDSP I was referring to is the 2x4 HD.

WiiM Ultra's USB port is only for accepting USB attached storage devices, or for outputting digital audio to an external DAC. It cannot receive digital audio in via USB (it cannot act as a USB DAC).

Your best bet to integrate a PC would be an inexpensive USB to Toslink adapter. Use Toslink to connect to the WiiM's optical input (its only digital audio input). You attach your sub to the WiiM's subwoofer output. The WiiM handles crossover duties and bass management (time delay/sync between sub and speakers as well as volume level, and crossover point). You can still use your Topping DAC if you wish, by using USB, Toslink, or Coax S/PDIF out to the DAC. You don't have to, though, since WiiM Ultra has an extremely competent pair of RCA single-ended analog outputs that can connect straight to the Aiyima amps.

Aiyima A07 Max is analog in. There's no need to convert it back to digital before feeding the amp if that's your amp, miniDSP 2x4's analog output can connect straight into that amp.

I think I'll stream my local music file to wiim ultra via foobar2000 plugin. I heard it can be done as long as both the pc and wiim ultra are connected to the same local internet.

The WiiM supports DLNA/UPnP protocol, so any software that can transmit via DLNA/UPnP should work beautifully.

I just bought a jade audio level 1 amp ( it's brilliant ) will this pair of mono blocks make that much of a difference? If any?

I've got a pair of fosi V3 mono blocks recently... but I like the VU meters but not motivated to replace my V3s unless they're considered worthy replacements.

Are these units "much better" or the same? I am waiting on the official review from the boss? considering they considered the V3 to be "pretty good" (which is why I grabbed them)

EDIT : Not found a spec for the A20. But similar amps using the same chip with PFFB achieve around 0.03ohm output impedance giving a damping factor at 8 Ohm of 266 (half that at 4Ohm.

Both more than enough.

The AIYIMA A20 stereo comes with a 48V5A Power Supply so does the AIYIMA A20 MONO

So the mono most be much more power full since it has a 48V5A Power Supply for each channel ?

Use it for 5.1 surround ? 100/200 watt and peak 170/300 watt (2 ohm rated) for under 800 euros

I've swapped it out for a pair of e3 A7 monos as the darn things kept switching off while the wife and i watched TV ( volume kept low cos the kid is asleep ).

Highly annoying.

A 12V trigger won't work to keep it awake as well - it turns it on but the low level auto-shut off still goes into effect after 20 minutes. A fundamental design flaw if you ask me.

Stuff like this is why Aiyima is behind the curve compared to Fosi or FiiO.

The Fosi V3 mono's utilise a 'AB137A' 32-bit RISC-V processor IC for signal sensing and it works very well indeed... I wonder what Aiyima have chosen? Obviously something different (inferior.)

I recall the old AVI active speakers from a decade+ ago all suffered with this problem. If the volume was below a certain threshold they'd go into standby and wouldn't wake until you cranked the volume quickly... In 2010 it was an annoying flaw that needed ironing out, in 2026 it's unforgivable.
