Aiyima’s new balanced amplifier- A20

Currently, using subwoofer with HPF to 3e Audio A7.
I guess the Aiyima A20 may have similar performance.

What I am waiting for is a modern class D amp with Stereo XLR subwoofer out, integrated LPF and HPF for both main and sub out, the crossover setting can be implemented as a dip switchs/stepped rotary knob with detents.
Hoping there is such product in the future.

Do I really really need the T20 together with A20 for the best sound quality?
Are the original tubes fine or should I replace with something else?
How about the op amp?

I mostly listen to music and watch anime. I'm a big fan of neutral balanced sound btw.
If you want super neutral or least as neutral as the T20 might get I would go for the dual opa828 (op amps x 3) and the Psvane Horizon ECC83 Valves.

Receive the metal rack. It's with decent weight. Aluminum helps reduce heat. Awesome!

I am keenly interested to see how this thing measures up.

Does anybody have any issues with the 12v trigger. I am not sure what is going on but I have the A20 and T20 here with no trigger response at all. Am I missing something? I would hazard a guess and say the amp trigger the pre amp in this case as it’s a hard switch.

Trigger out on T20 to only trigger on A20. Cables are cables. Should turn off the amplifier when preamp is turned off.

Have you already tried swapping the op-amps and matching those between the T20 and A20? Maybe even to the stock ones?

Thanks, that works. I expected the amp to turn on and off the pre amp for some reason. Never bothered with triggers till now so had no idea that it would be the pre amp with the remote….but yes, handy!

Triggers typically work from the top of the connection chain downward. Plus, the A20's trigger is an input, not an output, which is why it wouldn't have turned your T20 on/off.

The tubes I can get them for quite cheap from aliexpress, but what is this dual opa828 (op amps x 3)? I searched on my local ecommerce website and found 3 buying options for opa828: sop single op amp, dip single op amp, dip dual op amp. I assume the dual op amp is the one I need? I'm not too familiar with the technical terms of electronic spare parts.

For the A20 you will need 3 dual op amps. There are numerous options but the dip dual opa828 is just a very good choice for a fast, neutral sounding chip. It will allows the sound of the valves to come through without influencing anything.

maybe have a look here bevore:

So the conclusion is that we should just use them A20 and T20 as they are, no need to spend money on part replacement for some placebo effects?

exactly. the effect of different OP is extremely small or even negative (considering starting with an audio op in first place ofc)

the by far weakest point of audio chain is the speaker + room. there you can actually achieve significant improvement.
