I was captivated by the progress with respect to the audio version of what we are now seeing in the latest Nvidia GPU's (the advent of consumer real-time Ray-Tracing lighting).

I wonder how computationally expensive audio waves could be, and if they need dedicated hardware to be possible in real-time.

This stuff has some pretty great potential for VR.

I remember using POV-Ray on an PC (probably an i486 based one) in the early '90's. Here's an interesting post about the challenges of using POV-Ray to model ultrasound from 2003...
