Hi I currently have a Pioneer DMH-WC5700NEX with Android Auto on a Pixel 9 pro XL. I'm having a lot of issues with android auto. Disconnections, unable to control the volume from the head unit or the steering wheel controls. I also have the Maestro RR. When the Pioneer works it sounds wonderful. I use a streaming radio app on my phone and I fear a lot of the issues are from the app. A lot of times I have to clear storage and cache on android auto to get things working again.

In your opinion do you find that most android auto glitches and or bugs are coming from the head unit or are they coming from Android Auto itself? I want to replace the pioneer with a better unit but I don't want to deal with the same issues on the new unit. The pioneer was $750 which is a lot for me. Here are a list of things that are important to me.

Sound Quality Hi-Res preferred
UI being stable and responsive touch screen -- The pioneer was capacitive but felt more resistive and not responsive at all.
HD Radio preferred
USB-C 3A output on the back.
Preouts for connecting a DSP or AMP at a later date.
Currently running Kicker CS series speakers
Currently using an Alpine monoblock with 10 inch subwoofer.

I was thinking about the Modus AIM-7 from crutchfield. However it's on preorder. It checks all the boxes for me but they are the new kid on the block.

I just want something that didn't come out 5 years ago and the manufacturer keeps the firmware updated with fixes.

Thanks,
David
