Hello everyone,

I've been looking around to find basic AES/EBU switches that are able to switch between multiple inputs into one output.

My specific use case would be connecting active speakers that only accept a digital AES input to different sources/devices, without having to constantly, manually connect and disconnect the AES cable.

The only ones I found are these:

But those look pretty rough and DIY

And this:

But this is more like an always-on, remotely operated switch.

Are there any other simple but somewhat professional looking options with good build quality?

I don't immediately see a reason for why this wouldn't work:

Yes the second channel would be useless here.

Impedance mismatch?

Are your cable runs particularly lengthy? Otherwise the impedance mismatch shouldn't be an issue.
Total cable run Source -> Switcher -> Speakers should be well under 10 meters..

At what length could problems arise?

There isn't a hard-and-fast limit, but under 10 meters of total cabling will likely be okay. Typically I wouldn't expect the signal loss from the impedance mismatch to be likely to cause an issue unless you're looking at something more like 30+ meters. It should be quite similar to SPDIF, which is often carried over impedance mismatched connectors and/or cabling in domestic setups without issue.

A few years ago I was confronted to the same requirement and found nothing reasonably priced or matching my needs in commercial offers. So I decided to build one myself : https://photos.app.goo.gl/DYpDDbmAqGi3vwWg9

The "bit perfect" silk screen is a bit of a joke ;)

Looks awesome. I wish I had the technical knowledge to build something like that too.
