Hi
New to the forum.
Currently running a TV > Equaliser > Stereo amplifier and just bought an Audiolab DAC.

Can I connect TV > audiolab > Equaliser > amplifier to get better sound?

Also going from optical to analog cause any loss in sound quality or is it best to go optical from Audiolab to Amplifier and remove the Equaliser?

Yes you can.

How much the EQ degrades the sound will depend on what it is, I'm assuming it's an analogue unit? Usually they will add a little noise and distortion but not enough to worry about unless it's a very poorly made unit.

You have to balance that against the improved listening experience that equalizing the response is offering.

If it improves the sound or your enjoyment of the sound, keep it of course!!!

All analog electronics add SOME noise but hopefully it's not audible (probably not). It wouldn't make sense to add an equalizer and set it to "flat". ;)

You can use EQ to correct for "imperfect" speakers or room acoustics, or to correct a bad recording.

Or you can use it to adjust the sound to your taste, if you like more bass than the average person, etc. Or you can use it to boost the bass (and maybe treble) at low levels to compensate for the Equal Loudness Effect which makes it sound like you've turned-down the bass when you've only turn-down the volume . The treble isn't part of the equal-loudness effect but the small-quiet high-frequency details can drop-out of audibility at low levels.
