Hi,

Looking for some advice. I like the idea of not having to decide on sub placement with the R700's. Room is rectangular shaped 15ftx25ft. Amp is Cambridge Audio CXA81 mkII. Music is 50/50 Classical/Opera & Jazz on vinyl, CD and digital. Looking for neutral sound as possible.

-Which of the two speakers would you choose and why?

-Should I be concerned with lack of Bass with the R700's?

Thanks!

First, welcome to the forum!

If you don't want to have to bother with a subwoofer, then the Polk R700 is a good choice. It has a decently neutral frequency response and reaches low (usable response down into the 30Hz range) with low distortion.

Thanks for the response. I did watch the detailed reviews on youtube for both sets of speakers and they both review pretty good. I like the idea of having stand mounts, if I went that direction I would place the sub directly in front of the equipment rack but a few feet in front to give space when loading discs or records etc. I also don't want to keep upgrading just buy one last time and be done with it! Looks like I can't go wrong either way just the sub placement being the only difference.

Cheers
