Feel like I’m going down never ending rabbit hole of information and tech.

Room size 1.7m x 2.4m
Will do some acoustic treatment.
listening distance 0.7-1.2m
Speaker as close to the wall as possible, on stands at ear level

Primary use is for edm music production/listening to music

Going in circles on the Yamaha HS5/adam/iloud mini/JBL 305 and all the Kalis (UP LNF/LP6/IN5) those budget speakers in the price range. Don’t like the idea of Krk.

Most of my reviewing has lead me down the path of wanting Kali’s. IN5 definitely stretching the budget but the 3 way is enticing.

Questions are:
- Would it be overkill to get an LP6/IN5 for such a small space? Would I get enough use out of the better models in that size room
- could I get away with no sub and getting a good set of headphones for the low end mixing/mastering? If no, what size and brand sub or headphone would you recommend?
- Do I need an audio interface for any of these?

Thanks team

Why not? The current RP5s seem fine. The bigger models do seem increasingly hissy and relying on nearfield use in a well-treated environment to keep dispersion issues at bay.

The distances indicated should support them. It's not going to make your room mode hell any easier, mind you... that space is more of a closet than a room, and with those dimensions (I suppose height is 2.3-2.4 m as well?) I'd expect some gnarly modes. The specifics would still depend on building materials though, solid concrete or brick construction is going to leak out less deep bass than "whole lotta nothing" construction.

Not the worst approach in your circumstances.

Need - no. You can run your onboard audio through a Behringer HD400 if you so desire, should still work alright. One may prove useful for connecting a measurement mic or somehing though, and these days you don't tend to lose too many extremities paying for something half-decent either.
