I was going to post a separate topic however, i also have this dilemma. My new MB is a z370 gaming 7, Realtek ALC1220 audio codec, a ESS Sabre 9018Q2C dac, and a Texas Instruments LME49720 amplifier. I'm running them with some older z5300 speakers and they sound great. I have recently purchased a pair of
AKG k7xx and although they sound pretty good with the included amp on a boost setting for high impedance headphones, id like them to run louder.So i'm in a dilemma. Get a whole separate DAC/AMP speakers or maybe try some higher end powered studio monitors and use the optical out. any ideas are welcome. Not trying to hijack the thread so let me know if you'd like me to create a new topic.
