Hi,
My current setup is as follows:
TV -> Fiio BTA30PRO (optical) -> Fiio BTR7 (Bluetooth) -> Marantz PM6007 (RCA) -> Passive speakers and subwoofer
I'm using the BTR7 for the parametric equaliser. Because I'm using an optical cable from my TV, volume control is with the amp. However, I'm upgrading the subwoofer to an SVS PB1000. The sub has the feature of a high-pass filter on the line out jacks and I would like to use that feature. But if I were to do that, the signal chain would look like:
TV -> Fiio BTA30PRO (accepts only optical/S/PDIF) -> BTR7 (only bluetooth input) -> Subwoofer -> Amp (high passed signal) -> Speakers
In this scenario, how would I achieve volume control on the TV? I have the option to extract audio through the 3.5mm headphone jack on the TV and convert it to digital using a converter but what are the downside of that?
