Hi, I'm about to buy my first speakers. Please advise me what will sound better in my room Adam t5v or Presonus Eris Studio 5. I need them for mixing, mostly modern rock music

What's your room like? (size, treatments)

Are you using a sub?

What's your budget?

Welcome to ASR!
my room is about 14 square meters.
No, I don't use a sub.
where I live Eris Studio 5 are about 400 dollars a pair, Adam a little more expensive. I'm not ready to spend more than the adams cost
thanks for the welcome!)

Considering the rather abysmal performance of Presonus speakers measured to date, I do no have high hopes for the Studio 5:

Are other brands an option? Mainly JBL or Kali.
To be honest, I haven't considered other options, I watched different reviews and listening through audio technica m40x headphones I liked the sound of adams, will they be a good choice? Studio 5 has few tests and like as if less, but again how it will sound in real life I can not predict.

See Amir's review:

Great speaker with some EQ.

I'll just say this is not a great way to judge speakers, because you are generally listening to the speakers, through the room, through the mic, through your headphones. It's like watching a cam rip (maybe not even a good one) of a movie on your phone instead of going to the theater.

Other speakers you might want to take a look at:

https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/kali_in-8v2/ (can get around $500 used)

https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ds/jbl-308p-mkii-studio-monitor-review.17338/ ($500 per pair new)

Both do a really good job as monitors, as good or better than the Adams, no need for EQ mostly.

If you can go somewhere to hear the speakers in person that's the best option, but otherwise look for a good return policy just in case. :)

The Eris Studio 5s seem to acquit themselves decently enough:
Next to others like KH80 and RP5 G4 (or T7V) they seem a bit "laid-back" though.

As evidenced by the older E5 XT, Presonus clearly knows how to make speakers with decent dispersion, but usually they're not exactly tuned flat out of the box...

If the Studio 5 takes after the E5 XT in terms of level handling, then the T5V would still be somewhat better.

When I was looking in to buying some Genelecs I listened to several active speakers. The difference between the cheaper T and slightly more expensive A range from Adam was quite pronounced (as it should be). I actually thought one of Yamaha's cheaper boxes sounded very good and not far removed from the Adam A. Build seemed better too compared to to Adam's T. Unfortunately I can't remember the model number. One thing I did like about the T series was their looks/design but that's about it.

I read somewhere it is not too easy to implement ribbon tweeters successfully. Perhaps they should have sticked with a conventional unit and better build elsewhere but of course it is a unique selling point.

Anyway, most hissed from their amplifiers to a greater or lesser extent which (to me) make them questionable choices for any (serious) near field applications. It starts to get better and more 'studio' from perhaps £700/piece.

I would not put the Adam and the Presonus in the same conversation, Adams are better.
Another could be the Yamaha HS series or the Kali as suggested before.
