Good day to all!
I liked the Adam ART tweeters. I didn't like the DSP. Although I was initially interested in the Adam A4V, A7V.
I want to eventually upgrade my speakers to Adam A7x/A8x. I understand that they are only used.
And I have some questions:
1. Is there an adequate choice of the same sound/quality from new?
2. What kind of problems in them, if they is used? Capacitors?
3. I am also primarily interested in the midrange-high frequencies, then I can add a sub. But it will be impossible to improve the midrange-high frequencies without monitor replacements. So I am wondering, if the choices are from A5x, A7x, A8x, then which one is best in midrange-high frequencies, where detailing is better?
4. What would you take on?

I wouldn't consider any Adam worth getting - I really don't like how AMTs behave in most speakers (i.e., poor vertical dispersion, early beaming, etc). The AX series is also really quite bad in terms of distortion, frequency response, off-axis behavior, etc.

As far as reliability problems, to my knowledge they're generally OK. The A8X is the worst of them by a large margin.

In my HT, I run all Adam Audio AX series, with the exception of the SUB; (FRONTS=A8X, CENTER=A77X, SURROUNDS=A7X).

They've been on 24/7 for nearly 4 years straight with zero issues.

Initially, when building my HT, I started with a pair of A7X's and they were perfectly fine for the room they were in.

When I relocated my HT into a much larger space, I acquired the A77X and finally the A8X's last.

While the 7's have excellent mid-range and sound stage/imaging, the 8's by comparison have a much fuller range with almost no need of a subwoofer.

They are equal to the 7's in terms of midrange-highs, but just that much better in the bass region.

My guess is the room size will be the differing factor; it was for my system.

Adam Audio in my experience are not just adequate; they are exceptional.

Of course, as some have commented, the X-ART is not for everyone.

For my ears, ribbons are my favorite, and Adam Audio are among the very best I've heard.

The only other speaker with a ribbon that rivals my current Adam Audio's is my Dali Euphonia MS5's with their proprietary ribbon/soft dome hybrid module.

There appears to still remain a strong following for the AX series when navigating sites such as Reverb dot com.

Like you, I also don't particularly care for DSP so you may actually be very happy with the previous generation of analog non DSP AX series.
