Sounds like an issue with your phone and/or the USB connection. Just tried with my Android phone connected directly to the speakers, worked just fine. No pops.

Maybe check the audio settings? Could be trying to output at a bit-/sample-rate that the speakers don't like. Might have to go into the phone's "developer options".

Curious, does this also happen if you use Bluetooth to the D3V? Do you have any other USB audio devices you can connect to the speakers to check, maybe USB-native headphones? Looking into this, this sort of issue seems to be a thing that happens with Android devices and the recommended fix often revolves around using an app that bypasses Android's default audio stack. Although, as far as I can tell, that sort of app only exists for playing local music (such as USB Audio Player Pro), not streaming.

If all else fails, you could always use a dongle and connect the speakers via a 3.5mm to dual TS cable.

Maybe? I got mine at the end of last year, and they seem to have come with the firmware already updated as I can enable and disable auto-standby as described in the change log. They've been used with several android phones via USB but I don't remember any unexpected popping.

Yeah, if it's not already on the updated firmware it certainly can't hurt trying it to see if it addresses the issue. I updated mine as soon as I got them.

You can also use a Mac. But is this a thing where you don't own any actual computers, only mobile devices? Or are you one of those penguin lovers?

No measurements, no way to know. I would guess almost certainly not.

I tend to believe that D3V are worth quite a bit more than their asking price!
Especially if you use them as they are supposed to be used.
The first time I saw them, I was not too impressed. They looked like a bit better PC speakers but not like a real near field monitors.
After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to take the risk and never had any regrets.

I bought the Ruark Audio MR1 MK3s instead of these. They sounded good, but unfortunately bluetooth could not be turned off, so I'm returning them. About to pull the trigger on the Adams now instead. But what do you think of getting a pair of passive speakers instead, like the Dali Kupids (only goes down to 63 hz though) or the bigger Dali Oberon or Sonik 1s (goes to 50 hz like the Adams). Class D amps are basically free these days, so it's not going to cost much more than the Adams (the Dali Kupids are €100 more than the Adams and Dali Oberons costs the same as the Adams).

I don't think I'll add a sub since I live in an apartment. If I did though, perhaps a small 6-incher that only goes down to 50 hz could work? That would be something like the Argon Audio Malmö Sub 6 (costs about 300 euro bucks). Maybe that sub with Dali Kupids and an Aiyima D03 amp, would it beat the Adam D3Vs for nearfield listening or am I better off just buying the Adams?
