This AVR line is long time dead in dsp developement. So no chance for ARTNow that Arcam DLBC issues have been fixed and knowing that to get Art you must have DLBC license, I hope that Harman Luxury will add ART option for us AVR21/31/41 receivers owner since Denon and Marantz have Art option available for their current line of products. Hopefully marketting logic willl not prevail to force us to buy a new receiver if we want Art. Anyway, at least DLBC give now it full potential which not so bad!! (very good in fact)
The older RZ50 and newer RZ30 have DLBC capability now and yet there is no "coming soon" for ART on Dirac's page other than StormAudio (already available), Marantz, Denon, and AudioControl. I would not hold out hope that ART is coming to the older Arcam units. Now that Arcam DLBC issues have been fixed and knowing that to get Art you must have DLBC license, I hope that Harman Luxury will add ART option for us AVR21/31/41 receivers owner since Denon and Marantz have Art option available for their current line of products. You forget Audiocontrols' new hyperion series, which have 2 processors and 1 AVR, will all support ART.For now it should be Marantz and denon only for avr
Sadly, Harman has a history of getting rid of its development engineers...Now that Arcam DLBC issues have been fixed and knowing that to get Art you must have DLBC license, I hope that Harman Luxury will add ART option for us AVR21/31/41 receivers owner since Denon and Marantz have Art option available for their current line of products. too expensive for me sadly, but you are rightYou forget Audiocontrols' new hyperion series, which have 2 processors and 1 AVR, will all support ART.
During my saga around DLBC option not working above v3.4.4 in Harman Luxury lines of receivers, a source in Arcam UK confirmed that the engineer who programmed AVR21/31/41 series left the company long before January 2025 when Arcam finally began to try to find a solution. Dirac DLBC v3.13.9 finally fixed the problem 2 years after my first email about it...Harman Luxury told me that it would have been easier if I had contacted them before Jan. 2025!! I was in contact with Dirac since more than a year by then! Then they absorbed Arcam, had a new team set up to develop the Arcam and Synthesis processors.... I have a feeling most of those were moved on in turn.
That's what scared me.Hard to read the tea leaves here! But Harman's history of letting brands die on the vine (Lexicon, Harman), does not bode well.
for me too, imagine Storm or Trinnov...too expensive for me sadly, but you are right
Dirac have stated a number of times that a processor capable of dlbc, should be capable of ART.During my saga around DLBC option not working above v3.4.4 in Harman Luxury lines of receivers, a source in Arcam UK confirmed that the engineer who programmed AVR21/31/41 series left the company long before January 2025 when Arcam finally began to try to find a solution. IMHO the big problem for us mere mortal it is impossible to verify if it is true to say that actual DSP/CPU capabilties in our receivers can or can not process the filters generated by Art option. So Harman and other can always pretend that it is not possible reason why you will need to buy a new receiver...which will not happen soon in my case.
That may be true of the Denon/Marantz units but I don't think it applies across all brands.Dirac have stated a number of times that a processor capable of dlbc, should be capable of ART.
Wait for Black Fridayjust got email - its here!
Anyone has got any discounts?
Storm has better DSP so theoretically could do better. But ART should be calculating filters, DSP implementing them, and don't recall Dirac saying there is ART maxi and ART mini. Also seen a video on Storm calibration where they state there is 500 filter limitation and that some users could hit that and have to use them more rationally i.e. where they count the most. In short - don't really know the answer.I’ve heard it said that StormAudio models use a far more powerful DSP than other brands, capable of handling higher‑precision and more complex ART filter calculations. As a result, even though the license fee is the same at USD 299, with the same speaker configuration the ART results calculated by StormAudio will differ from those of D&M—the former being noticeably superior.
Can anyone confirm this claim? If it’s true, then shouldn’t the pricing of ART be differentiated according to the performance of different AVRs
