Perhaps I didn't make it clear I have 4 seats in 2x2 config

Regardless, your suggested pattern makes sense for a multi row config although I would have thought the initial measurement should be centred between the head position of all the seats (in all three dimensions)?
Pretty much the same suggestion then :)
Also, you can ad points if you like - make a box for every seat.
 
I think I may be the only audiosciencereview member with an AudioControl APR-16. But I observed something that surprised me on how Dirac ART seems to be working on my unit. Best I can tell, the filters Dirac implements are very different if I measure the room with the default settings which have every speaker and sub as bandwidth limited with 80hz HPF and LPF, versus with everything on full range. In the first case it seems as if Dirac is not bypassing the crossovers and is measuring the speakers with the corresponding HPF and LPF. So then Dirac assumes my subs can’t go above 80 hz and my speakers can’t go below 80 hz. If I set everything to full range, Dirac uses the below and above 80 hz, as expected with the Low and High support settings. Am I missing something?

Can you post a screenshot of the Dirac app?

I’m pretty sure that the support level of speakers in ART is 50hz.
 
That appears to be the default, but of course it can be easily changed.
Yes. Default low support is 50. Easy to change. What was happening when I used the default bandwidth limited settings in the apr16 is that Dirac would not use the subs much above 70 hz and it would calculate an f support high of 107 hz for the subs No matter how I set the support low or high the filters roll off the subs at 60-70 hz. But if I set the apr16 to full range on everything then Dirac would set the default f support high at 150 hz for the subs. Seems as on the apr16 Dirac locks in the crossovers but it doesn’t bypass them. Now I have the apr16 with all speakers and subs as full range. I use thx f support low and high to effectively create bandwidth limit for each speaker. Works as you would expect.

Btw if you ask Ai it says that Denon and Marantz products bypass the crossover settings but an APR16 doesn’t on Dirac. Is it hallucinating? Well maybe but that’s consistent with what I see. And in my conversations with AVPro they tell me that Dirac bypasses the crossover but that seems wrong.

Dirac is supposed to ignore any manual crossover setting and distribute audio within the limits set when you create your filter (with 50 Hz as the low default other than subs as noted). This is how it works on the Tide. If your processor isn't conforming then you have a bug.
 
I have contacted AVPro asking if this is intentional or a bug. Seems the crossovers are not being bypassed for the measurement sweeps.

Oh, we have (had?) an in-house Dirac expert? Can I sneak in one last request before you go? I've been pulling my hair out trying to fix a problem the past couple weeks. I submitted a support ticket to Dirac over a week ago, but haven’t heard anything back.

After calibrating my 2.2 system with Dirac ART, the kick drum on certain songs sounds distorted around 40Hz, as if the speaker is being pushed too hard at that frequency. 40Hz is also the peak (+16dB and +22dB at 40Hz) in the mains measured spectrum before correction.

I verified the distortion goes away if I turn off Dirac or switch to DLBC or GLM. Distortion is audible even at very low volumes. I also hear the distortion wearing headphones.

I have tried:

- 9, 13 and 17 measurement points
- target curves at 0dB
- moving curtains around
- turned down support levels (even set to -1)
- increased F-support low
- decreased F-support high
- lowered FSIO
- disabled mains support for mains
- disabled subs support for mains

Any ideas?

I'll try, at least for debugging purposes, can you set the F-Support Low of the speakers to something really high, like 100Hz?

I have set F-support Low at various points in the range from 30Hz up to 125Hz. It doesn't make make any difference. The distortion remains at every F-support Low setting :confused:

With 125Hz F-support Low set on the speakers, does the distortion come out of the speakers or the subwoofer(s) or both?
