Active Room Treatment (ART) by Dirac

Unfortunatly no, I forgot to change REW settings for the lfe channel measurement so it stops at 300Hz. I show together with the same color code the front left and the LFE enable- desable and in grey the lfe channel measurement. We see that LPF/LFE desable made a vertical rotation at 293Hz instead of more «erratic»? shift with LPF/LFE enable
That's very impressive.
How is the phase chart produced? REW?
 
I upgraded and turned off the filter, and I didn't see a big shift on the LPF side (probably due to just capability). That said, it seems to make my particular infrasonic + ART bug much worse. With this setup, I get a fake null at 20hz, and it seems to get worse for some reason with this update:

You can see that the original measured response is fine. I used to think this was fake, but then I can see it measured in REW when compared to bass control!

Anyway, this is kind of a separate issue, but if any of you are having a similar issue with ART, this seems to make it worse.

I set up ART on my PC for my 2.2-channel bedroom setup.

ART is great, as expected. Until now, I had been keeping a Marantz AVR in this bedroom just so I could use ART here.
Now I can move the Marantz to another room.

Do you also have a 1 sub system ?
2 subs. But I am sure Art works welll with 1 only even though it was originally designed for more than one sub. It is the only thing I miss from grabage Arcam AVR-21 and his bad implemented Dirac DLBC. I never had such a dip at 20Hz neither with DLBC off nor on. Cinema 30 has this dip at 20Hz in DLBC and Art.

That's awesome. What are you using now to power your speakers? I'm considering the PC option for my bedroom setup too and it would be nice if I can eliminate my AVR from this setup.

I connect my PC to a DENON AVR via HDMI. The speakers are driven from the front outputs, and the passive subwoofer is driven from the surround outputs.

I think I read somewhere that this can happen due to the ART filters only extending to 20hz even with infrasonic enabled, so there’s a sudden change in phase right at 20hz or at least can be with that setting on.

I have a TX-NR656 sitting on a shelf in my garage collecting dust. I could put it to good use with ART using the PC option correct?

Yes, you should be able to put it to good use.

Connect your main monitor directly to the PC via DisplayPort, connect the AVR to the PC via HDMI, and set Windows to extended display mode. Then select the AVR/HDMI device as the audio output.

With this setup, your main monitor does not have to pass through the older HDMI path on the AVR.

The only annoyance is that Windows will treat the AVR as a second display, so your mouse cursor can disappear into that “ghost” screen. A tool like Dual Monitor Tools can lock the cursor to the current monitor, which should make this setup much easier to live with.

I never considered that. So if you have a PC in your HT setup you can potentially turn any AVR into dirac ART capable by using the PC version of the software?

Yes, if avr - ADC via usb or dante to PC/Mac (with dirac) - digital back to DAC to external amps. It doesn’t matter how old or weak your AVR is. It’s then just for decoding 3Daudio. (if the avr has preouts or just buy something like nuprime AoIP).

I think the tricky part is to get output to two discrete subwoofers, the so called 2.2 setup. I am still trying to get it to work in a way that would take full advantage of DLBC with/without ART. It is tricky because no longer have an AVR for that purpose so I can only use USB audio. With an AVR that has two discrete subouts then it will likely be easier, just use windows and the AVR's stereo menu to manage the subs.

@kawauso seems to have that figured out by using the surround channels for the sub(s) if I understood correctly, but I am not clear how/if Dirac got the mapping done right so that the left sub will work with the left channel and right sub with the right channel for 2ch stereo use. Currently I use is with a miniDSP HTx and use the channel routing/Matrix to play 2.2 but I know that is not the way to get the best out of DLBC (haven't tried ART yet).
 
just take sub out 1 route it via Dante into your PC/Mac and split it and play in reaper with your multiple subs. Don’t know the limitations of the dirac plugin. Red it’s 16x16, so if you have a 7.x.4 there is room for 5 subs. right?

Why is Dante a factor at all, for a PC based 2.2 system, I don't see the relevance but I might have missed something.
