Active Room Treatment (ART) by Dirac

It all goes back to preference and what one considers as significant, so will be different for various users and rooms/systems.

Great thing is that out of the box calibration takes one a long way and just defining shelves and various presets would get you going in style.

With very solid results out of the box and then ability to tweak further, ART really caters to wide audience.

Come to think of it, I can’t see any information about the number of filters either.
Is this because of the model or PC vs. Mac? I recall that some PC users can't see the number of filters, while I can clearly see it on Mac. Albeit with AV10.

Sorry for consecutive posts - this one is just curiosity. Does anyone use ART with active speakers and if so how does it work?

I can’t see the number of filters using a Mac with my 4800. I have assumed it is because I don’t have many speakers and that the “dots” and filter number display only appear when ART doesn’t have enough filters and needs to decide what to cut out but that’s just a guess. If I open my Denon remote app however it shows me I’m using Dirac and 17 filters are being used. @kawauso does Marantz offer a remote app?

Hmm that's strange. I see number of filters all the time on Mac with AV10. Have not updated Dirac to latest version yet, so version that was available upon release to D&M gear.

Thanks - that is interesting. So are you doing the basic EQ before ART and if so do you feel it gets you better results than just ART?

After confirming this behavior, the filter count is not displayed when only a small number of speakers are used.
While this may be intended to be user-friendly, it is honestly not a very good UI design.

For kicks before I left for work I counted the number of support speakers I have asked for between each speaker group and that number is 15 which is not the same as the 17 filters shown that I am using so possibly no correlation.

Curious, in the first screenshot looking at the support I see divergent lines coming from the same color (the purple lowest db line is easiest to pick up on right away to see what I am asking about). Are there 2 lines because you have the speakers there grouped? If I am correct does that mean that Art can use them each a little different (which to me is what the divergent lines point to) even though they are in a group? None of my speakers are grouped with any others and I have no diverging lines, that is why I am asking.

Correction is always on :)

Drivers are JBL 2216ND - closed not vented as JBL M2.
Cant see any point to use vented design when using bass management.
And JBL 2453H-SL with PRX wave guide - better dispersion the M2 wave guide in my room

140L sealed cabs works Great both with 2226 and 2216 (used 2226 before)
When i built with 2216 i did outdoor measurements to get a baseline respons and did corrections via minidsp AVR
I lost those measurements at a pc crash but i still had the minidsp so i copied the settings to the plate amps.

There is lvl match and a small raise under 100hz and small raise above 10khz
I can do it all in Dirac but it sounds better to have the speakers corrected before Dirac.

Sometime i just might do the outdoor measurement again and use FIR instead.
But i am happy as it plays, and i am lazy :)

Probably so. If enabling all filters doesn’t push it past 94, I suspect DENON/Marantz simply doesn’t display it.
My AV10 on Mac shows up to zero filters. Have been gradually reducing from 94 I use, and it went all the way down to zero. Not sure what is contributing to this strange behavior. As noted, Dirac version is as of D&M release and AV10 firmware as of the latest.

I think it just looks different depending on whether they are grouped together or kept separate.

Poor thing.
Are you able to manually enable the filters?

Hit the calculate button and I bet it changes. I'm anxiously awaiting the fix for this so I can start saving things in an organized manner. Currently the AI figures out new filters every time you open your project and they aren't the same each time.

Well this might be a valid point but practically all I want is to show me the number of available filters which my setup is doing. As dialing back support groups the number drops from 94 to 0 in increments that one would expect.

Practically, if you are not hitting the filter limit, you should not even care. I tried to dial back some support to 60-is filters but really did not change much in my setup. A bit different graphs but same old audible impact.

EDIT: You might be referring to recalculate the filters bug, which is known and as I understand under consideration. I reported it too, but Dirac closed my ticket due to inactivity.
