Active Room Treatment (ART) by Dirac

Been following this thread since the beginning and still crossing my fingers for the Integra DRX lineup to get ART, I badly want to upgrade from my older Denon which 'only' supports XT32 Audyssey.

I have a DRX3.4 - but they didn't even release DLBC for it... so I doubt ART is in their plans...

Maybe, just maybe, for the DRX8.4

I purchased the Cinema 50 Dirac license.
I’m planning to buy the AVR itself soon and will use it in my bedroom system.

Haha damn, how many systems do you have..?!o_O:p

This is my bedroom system! I'm planning to upgrade from the PC version of Dirac Bass Control, and ART seems great even for listening while lying down.

All of them :D
Here is my Dirac activation history.
The dates look recent because I changed my email address and transferred all my licenses.
Right now I’m using Dirac in 9 rooms, and including the Pioneer unit with the pre-installed version it makes 10 rooms total.
I guess that makes me a pretty dedicated Dirac fan.

holy...

I bought ART again yesterday with the Black Friday special. Off the bat noticed a difference within the program - ART detected different cut-off thresholds, whereas before all speakers were set to the of default 50.

Shifting speaker parameters made a noticeable difference and showed in the filters, something that did not happen the first time around. I suspect previously, despite visually indicating changes made within the program, I actually had no control over the parameters, defaults were locked in (probably related to why the subs were not initially included in the output despite indicating they were).

Now that I can actually shift the speakers into ranges where they are comfortable, ART sounds much better, much more solid and focused. Flipping between BC and ART with various tracks, ART clearly has more presence and focus. While there is the occasional track in which I prefer aspects of the bass presentation with BC, it's a clear win for ART overall.

I've settled on ranges, groupings and a curve I like now, will take measurements later today (curious to see how a properly working ART compares to my previous measurements).

Very odd bug, clearing my previous Audyssey and ART cals by reinstalling the firmware seems likely to be what fixed it, but I wonder what could have gone wrong in the first place (and how common it is)? Regardless, liking ART a lot!

Ken, I honestly thought ART just wasn’t your thing.
Glad to hear you’re liking it now.
How does your wife feel about the change?

She’s traveling at the moment, but she was not happy when I told her I was going to try ART again!

I’m just going to keep quiet and see if she notices anything when she gets back tomorrow evening :)

Glad you like it now after giving it another shot.

I don't quite understand what you mean by that though: you couldn't change the FSI previously and the speakers had to support down to 50Hz?

I’m really looking forward to hearing your wife’s reaction tomorrow.

Also, try creating a preset with the LFE channel boosted by +10 or even +12.

It’s pretty incredible.
