In case of digital input the question remains what happens next.
Most DSP chips run at 48 kHz, the more expensive ones like the Kii at 96 kHz
My guess is that all these digital inputs will be resampled to the clock rate of the DSP chip.

Is this better or worse than A/D o_O

In my system, all of my streaming gets upsampled to 24/96khz by the reclocker, which measurably drops jitter.

Such a process elsewhere should be unharmful, unless it introduces copious amounts of jitter, which is unlikely.

If they have XLR inputs, they were made for studio use, and very few have digital inputs.

Yes, mostly because the majority of the interfaces they'll be hooked up to use an analog XLR out, usually with an analog volume control.

2 interfaces I have are the UA Apollo Twin (over Thunderbolt) and the Roland Super UA (USB).
