Active DSP speakers that don’t have digital inputs really piss me off

There may be others, but case in point:

iLoud Precision MTM MKII

You have a monitor that has a ton going on with it and it comes with a mic and room correction software that downloads the RC solution into the speaker.

Fantastic! Where’s the digital input so I can run it straight outta my computer to a USB/AES/optical input?

The USB input is solely for calibrating and controlling the speaker (?). The other two inputs are analog in and a mic input for the calibration mic.

Whah??!!??!!
Would adding a chip to funnel USB audio to the main CPU be that financially prohibitive? Would the speaker cost $10 more? It’s a $999 package.

Or, hey, a switch to change the analog input to an AES. Seen that done on a lot of pro equipment.

This design has so much going for it, why hamstring it?

Its specs are great. Obviously, you want to use a pair of stereo subs and cross these over no lower than 150Hz. Do and you’ll have a kick-ass rig.

For most people the input debacle won’t be an issue, but it would constantly bother me to know that the mains in my system were compromised no matter how small that flaw is.

That being said, I love to see these on the old spinaroonie for a test run.
