I recently became aware of a local product that's sparked my interest, it's an acoustic PET carpet, about 2cm deep, 190 x 290cm:

My setup is not a dedicated one, it's a small open plan living-room but I've done everything I can while maintaining partner approval to improve the acoustics:

Even the couch is packed with Knauf Ecobatt

I think the system sounds good and the measurements are fair:

However, the response at my listening position is elevated in the midrange (LS50 Metas with 3 subs - EQ'd from 200Hz down only):

I've tried reducing the rise through EQ, but it sounds better/more natural to me as is. There's no more I can do to the room within the bounds of good taste, but this carpet has me thinking. It's not cheap, so to buy one just to experiment seems excessive. My concern is that it won't be all that effective in the region I'm looking to target and rob the high end of too much energy.
My gut tells me it's probably not a good idea, but my curiosity often gets the best of me. Any thoughts from those with more insight into room acoustics than myself`?
