Accuphase DP-430 - Laser Strength setting

I was unsure which part of the forum i should be posting this.

I wanted to know if anyone has any insights into how the Laser strength setting is reached at on the DP-430 my personal CD player - it has one variable resistor on the board. The label on the optical lens mechanism is marked KSS-213CL...

PS: i found a copy of the Accuphase Service Manual for this unit but there is no mention of how to adjust/set the Laser Strength with this pot...
