I'm still not sure why one has mic support and the other doesn't.
Yes, i rechecked the package now:

mic support remains a mistery.

I don’t think the HiBy M300 DAP has been mentioned in this thread (I have one): it’s a compact Android DAP using a single CS43131 (3.5mm port). What I found interesting is that HiBy has customized Android 13 to resample everything to 24bit/192kHz instead of the default 16/48.

Is there a benefit in using the CS43131 that way?

Bought a Fiio KA11 (mentioned by @kelp in an earlier post). It is built around SA9312L bridge > CS43131 > SGM8262 opamp.
  • W10 PC: I did update the fw to v0.08 (forgot to check what it was before the update); installed the Fiio DAC driver V5.62 (ASIO-compatible!); installed the Fiio Control app. No issue, everything works as intended.
  • Android (11) phone: installed the Fiio Control app. No issue, works fine.
  • iPhone: nothing to install (the Fiio control app is BT-only); I used KA11 with a Lightning-USB adapter. No issue.
For whatever reason, I had a poor opinion of Fiio SW, but everything is working as intended: called me impressed!
I don't know about SINAD and other measurements, but would assume it is at least in the good-enough category.
If you are looking for a compact, yet (very!) powerful CS43131-based dongle, the $30 KA11 may not be a bad choice.

It would be really interesting to see measurement of it especially how the SGM opamp impact sinad in "dac mode" and if it avoid the early thd+n vs power rise at low ohm loads as one would expect.
Good to know about the good quality of software and the Asio support in windows drivers, it seems to deliver on many fronts.

I was searching some info about Jcally JM 30 Pro that supports mic input:

given that:
I have 2 doubts:
  • which ADC chip is included? in the product description they say 24bit/48KHz. If it's the same CS46L41 used in Meizu\Ugreen it seems a wise choice to not use it as usb-bridge too, avoiding the bad jitter shown by that asyncronous chip.
  • usb bridge should actually be the SA9123L PRO version advertised on site https://www.savitech.co/usb-products
Does anyone have any hints about it?

I connected a mic cable to the Ufreen after a while and this post came back to mind.
I give it for granted but to be sure, do you tried with an actual TRRS mic cable? I ask because the dongle is auto-sensing and switches input on or off depending on the connected plug.

If I plug a standard TRS non-mi cable i have this:

Schermata a 2024-04-17 15-09-16.png

we see 1 out / 1 in (it's the loopback monitoring input) and you can only chose "Analog stereo" output profile.

If i connect a TRRS mic cable I have this:

Now we have 1 out / 2 in, being the 2nd input the microphone, and indeed we can chose "Analog stereo" output + "Mono" input profile.

Here the device informations from /proc/asound device n Linux
