A normal temperature for August 1st in southeast Oklahoma. Fortunately the humidity is only ~50% today so the heat index is somewhere around 120F.

Ten degrees less in Florida but almost double the humidity, so it feels like ten degrees more ...

Our humidity is normally about 70%. Got lucky today.

I was going to walk to my mailbox which is about 160 yards away. I stepped outside and decided to drive my truck.

What is the WBGT temp? Where I am it is about 10 degrees cooler, but humid. The WBGT is right on the edge of black which is something of a no working outside level. Is expected to be in the black tomorrow. Only in the dangerous red zone today. Where you should stop and cool off 2 minutes for every 1 minute you are active outdoors. And should not be active longer than 20 minutes at time.

Oh just looked the WGBT was same as here right on the edge of black. Plenty hot. About to do some grass cutting in another hour when it cools. Here is a National Weather service map of it. You can get a WGBT app on phones which is specific for your location. I find it much more accurate about how hot it really feels when active outside versus the Heat Index Feels Like Temperature.

I used the calculator and came up with WBGT 95, heat index 137.

London is hitting 90F. (30+C)
This is hot for us, as most homes don't have air cons, we don't really need them!
Lucky for me, my office does, so I am cool as a cucumber.

Meanwhile on August 1, happy posthumous birthday to the inimitable Jerry Garcia.

This is why I left Arizona and moved into the western NY mountains.

How's the weather down under
It's 2/3 through winter... but 20C and sunny where John is and 14C and partly cloudy where I am. He is much further north than I.

-7C this morning in southern Canberra, my car was a white ice box before i poured warm water over it at 7am.

10 day count down for 2 weeks hoiday in Samoa, where the locals are crying over 17C nights due to a unusual cold intrusion from down south. The days there are 30C :)

I'm glad it was only warm and not boiling. ;)

Yeah -7C is pretty damn chilly there in inland Canberra, has been getting to zero in Melbourne I hear.

When I lived in The Netherlands a long time ago, I'd usually use an ice scraper to clear the windscreen and often had to get in through the boot if the door locks were frozen up. I recall getting off the train one evening and the temp sign said -14C.

I doubt you had 50% relative humidity when the temperature was 106. That means a dew point of 84 and, as you said, a heat index of 137. That would be extraordinary and newsworthy.
