A new Kef speaker? The Kef LS Luxe

Can't wait for the data from Erin! Will the KEF LS Luxe be able to challenge a AsciLab A6B / S6B?

The interesting part for me is that a AsciLab A6B / S6B can be used with any amplifier you want, but if the KEF LS Luxe can prove that running their current amplification on both tweeter and woofer (plus VECO on the woofer) is the next frontier, then I am all in on that.

i doubt the Luxe has the same bass extension/distortion. The Luxe port is tuned at ~50hz, I believe the passive radiators on the S6B are tuned lower.

Would only make sense, the S6B has a 6.5 inch purifi driver, which have incredible low distortion and very high xmas. The driver also doesn’t have a tweeter in the middle. Plus the S6B is a bigger speaker.

WiSa is still a quite limited system, hence why using RJ45 could be an option to add as many channels as desired. Connect every speaker to a switch, connect the switch to the main unit and off you go.

POE, as cool as it sounds, can only provide 90 W, so a bit too low for the consumption of an LS speaker.

Personally, If I had insane amounts of money, I´d be already contacting Mr. Sigberg, get an AV20 and hook up some of his creations and bypass the passives, but alas...

Well the coax in the Luxe isn't crossed over to anything at all.

I have to again question why KEF won't just do an active version of the Concerto so there's a dedicated bass driver to cross over to, instead of doing all this fancy stuff to try to make a single small coax cover the entire frequency range.

The genelec will always win because it's mid doesn't have to move. As good as the KEF distortion could be, it's still going to be moving and you don't really want that. If we go by KEF's data is looks like the woofer distortion is down about 10db from the LS50w2. We have spins of LS50w2 so at 86db, instead of distortion being -30db (in the bass), it'll be around -40db. That's my guess at least. An impressive improvement in a vaccum, but is still short of a lot of other speakers that are much cheaper.

I thought I'd like point source so I bought some KEF, on paper is sounds like an obvious improvement to regular ole multiways. Turns out I actually don't care for point source at all. Figured it would be cool but I guess it's not for everyone.

I would love to buy Genelec instead, but they don't have wireless speakers

I mean, yeah I suppose. Experience with making excellent speakers does not necessarily translate into making excellent electronics and software.
 
Dang...I guess I never realized how expensive the Genelec 3-way SAM' everyone keeps mentioning are. Even the smallest one (even before adding the external streamer) is almost $1800 more expensive in the states.

Shipping + tariff is very expensive these days.
