And if not and if someone takes umbrage with this post well you have proven me to be the better man.

LOL. I love this part.

Something about “ heads, I win…” :D

My stopwatch on this one has started…

"People on social media vs in person"

There's no such thing as a "social media on the net".
It's all the "unsocial media" :p

I find that a select in here are a bit too imperious and prone to self- aggrandizement.
Put simply who wiped your arse this mornin.

My my all these pithy comments
Where are all of the pedantic diatribes you are all so fond of

My Groom of the Stool.

There are some excellent audio fallacies listed in this thread. Do you have anything to say about any of them? Do you have any new ones to contribute?

I see... the post and initial premise where you made an assumption. :p

JSmith
The quote from my post you are pulling is not an assumption that I have made.
As far as the premise is concerned (not being an English major nor holding a doctorate in grammar)
Was just a observation based on what has been historically common arguments in this forum.

"prodigaliter argentum consumere" (to consume silver prodigiously)

The fallacy of silver speaker cable being superior by Connecting to a copper voice coil from copper binding posts connected to....using tin soders.

But to be honest I was having fun playing with the kids and all the costic acrimony.

My apologies for being bored and coming across as a bit of a ruffian

And for the record
I take full responsibility for the lions share of the costic acrimony. My original post was meant to elicit the response I got and thought it would be a good way to get some entertainment value from the thread.
It would be a shame if someone is so thin-skinned as to really take umbrage with a few hours of wasteful banter on a Saturday night no matter which gorilla throws poop at the plexiglass barrier.

Now if you would excuse me.
I have better things to do with my life and wallet than to placate a pay to play group.

But you are playing and you didn't pay. You don't have to.

They may be the weakest link but the brain is more insidious.
You say? I see it differently, you know.
The point is that the brain is the most powerful dsp available, it allows us to enjoy instruments that are anything but perfect, to bypass rooms that devastate frequency responses, to align perceptions with our expectations, from this point of view it is an extraordinary tool. The problem is that it cannot be "deactivated" so we cannot rely only on it to make decisions that could be economically burdensome based on perceptions induced by our brain but not real.
But let's not forget that in listening and in musical enjoyment the brain is our greatest ally

Aren't the people who like tube amp distortion similar to people who drink from dirty glasses?
I think it's more like drinking wine from a beautifully cut crystal glass. You can no longer really see the color of the actual wine, but the light refractions through the facets of the glass are very beautiful.

No need. They are wrong and deluded.
Well, we hear that very often in other contexts around the world at the moment. Unfortunately from the very people who only know science from hearsay, abolish education and close universities.

Science is the opposite of dogmatism. We have to remain open to all possibilities, because otherwise we might close the very door that leads to a solution.
