PS as an immigrant and a scientist I can understand only part of the joke: what about drug dealers?

In Scotland weed/hash is generally sold in ounces and fractions of such as eighth or 3.5g, quarter or 7g, half or 14g, ounce or 28g, or a bar which is 9 ounces or 250 ish grams or 4 bars to a kg.

I personally never used imperial measurements as when growing it made much more sense to deal in grams.

I am from Kiwi Land (we went metric in 1968) but lived in the US from 1996 to 2010.

So I had lots of cross-cultural confusions while living there so here are a couple:

- US take home beer kegs , at least in my experience, have this push handle at the top to create pressure so you get beer out of the tap at/near the top...thus the basic concept of placing the tap at the bottom of the keg and letting gravity do its work has escaped American engineering genius

- When someone got lucky, they lucked out... which to most English speakers would mean you ran out of luck, aka were unlucky

My car does -- it's not, technically, a US car though. For all I know, it was made in the US. I have no idea where it was made, in point of fact.
I do know that I bought it mostly because it was just about the only reasonably priced (but not stripped to the bones) AWD with a manual transmission left on the market (in 2018-19).

I actually don't like it very much, but I do like the fact it's got a gearshift and a clutch, and I can decide what gear I want it to be in (and it's several orders of magnitude less complicated than the outrageous automatics now being used in most I/C vehicles). ;)

The sticker in the drivers door pillar tells you where and when it was made and correct tire pressure too
