A Call For Humor!

^^^ Here in Australia, wars are infrequent. So if a patient tells me he's a vet, it usually means he provides medical treatment for animals. All that went out the window when I met an American patient who told me he's a vet. I asked "do you work with pets or farm animals?". He looked confused, then told me "I'm an Iraq vet". That's when it hit me that I might have insulted him. I apologized profusely.

From a UK perspective it's not about wars being infrequent - vet just isn't a word we'd use for a member of the armed forces. Peoples separated by a common language as the old saying goes...

A veteran veterinarian would probably be a vet² :)

Guess, titles and orders ++ are more commonly used in Britain, like Col (ret) and so on in combination with which regiment/fleet, whic would serve as an indication of where they have been deployed. If the person is 35 and have served as Captain with a specific regiment or unit, many would know the likely deployments.

Don't know that many (retired) vets, but none of them could be described as square ;)

When you get letters with photos of the vet posting with 2 sedated male lions one year, and with a combat uniform from Afghanistan some years later......

...would fit the vet vet description though....

Good heavens, this woman is something else
It's a fun supercut. Her recipes are mostly revolting but apart from that I don't see the problem. She's got a bit of the Stepford about her but only because that film was too close to the mark for comfort.

Look, when you are entertaining and serving cocktails you can either hire waiters to fix drinks for your guests or you have to do them yourself. If the latter you can't be fixing one drink at a time -- your guests will be waiting and you'll be fully occupied. So you fix batches of cocktails in pitchers. That's what Sandra Lee is demonstrating.

You're missing the parts where she carefully measures juice, says 1 cup but pours a half, but all the hard stuff is "1 cup" and she just inverts the bottle and gluglugluglugg. Really hilarious to watch.

She made a career out of her blatant alcoholism, can't not respect that. :D

I watched it alright. It's very funny. And whoever produced it, respect!

But I still can't allow it. I can respect the commitment to drunken parties and the host's prerogative of being the first to get drunk. But alcoholism? I don't know anything about her beyond this video. Do you, with all the sordid details about how often she was in rehab?
