There is useless and then there is really useless:

In 2022, at the World Aquatics Championships, Andrea Fuentes (a coach and former Olympic swimmer) had to dive in to save her athlete, Anita Alvarez, after she fainted and sank, because the on-site lifeguards failed to react immediately

I can totally identify with this.

I fail to understand why people do use those at all... I never used it a single time, and my lips never crack or feel dry.
Those of my friends who have been consistently using it for years since their early ages, now all have dry lips, constantly needing re-hydration... go figure; looks like "create the precedent, all will follow" kind of thing...

Just my 2c, though; as somebody might indeed suffer from some form of poor water retention.

Three old ASR guys are in a bar, discussing how they are now deaf, and how young people are missing out on good music. One says "It's much worse, I try to pee and it comes in drips and drabs..." The next guy says "That's nothing - I try to take a dump and I'm straining for hours and just get a squirt out". The third guy says, "You're both pathetic. At 7:30 every morning I take a piss and it gushes like a fire hose. 5 minutes later I take a dump, and it's like an elephant dropping it out on the savanna" The first two, open eyed, say "Jeez - it's amazing at your age, and also considering you read all the nonsense on ASR!" The third guy says "Well, yeah but I don't get out of bed until gone 9 o'clock"

a) it's not funny and b) yr sense of humor sucks
