my kinda acid sounds...
One of the first rock albums recorded on a 16 track machine (a very early Ampex MM-1100, IIRC).
The Dead's penchant for lysergamides notwithstanding, the magic to the mixdown of this particular rekkid was reportedly a big ol' tank of nitrous (oxide).
Actually, famously, the original mix was so outta control that Garcia remixed and re-released the original 1969 album in 1971. I didn't track down a copy of the original mix until probably about 20 years ago (acquired from a Deadhead work colleague of mine)... and then about 15 years ago Rhino re-released it (on polyvinylchloride, of course
).
Oh, as an irrelevant, egocentric aside (yeah, I know, inconceivable...): The aforementioned work colleague used to refer to my laboratory as the Sugarees. We were the glycoconjugate experts in the 'hood, you see. I am all about carbohydrates, professionally speaking.

"Evolutionarily incorrect" - kinda. Among all primates and relative to body size, humans have seriously, grotesquely oversized penises. Gorillas for example are wee tiny... 3-6cm in working mode.
