Actually "smoother" than Windows. All she needs, just works (and it isn't much).
Last but not least: No updates breaking stuff etc.
I suspect that in October, when (presumably) security support for Win10 goes the way of Clippy* , I shall switch my much-beloved Lenovo T430 and T440s over to some graphical Linux thingy.

My -- ahem -- "music server" is an ancient IBM Thinkpad R60 running Linux Mint.

My "proof of concept" documentation from the initial install, back in 2021. :)

The funny thing is: I don't actually know where we got this particular laptop. I don't remember buying it -- although I think I probably got it from my self-employed IT support guy (a long-since-retired DEC guy from central Mass named Ben) at one point when he was re-habbing an even ancient-er Dell lappie for my wife.

It's a freaking laptop graveyard around here... but I digress.

* Or Microsoft Bob, just in case Clippy is poised for a reboot in the age of AI, which I think he she they might be...

A fake - sperm can't have 3% fat, and if it's Epstein's, not a Polish product anyway :p

But then again - the food industry lives to the principle "customers aren't pigs, they will eat anything" (the above included)

When support for W10 stops, it will no longer be troubled by unwanted updates.

At some point it will be inadvisable to do financial transactions on W10.

Banks will no longer allow banking from my wife’s iMac.
