You guys don't get many New Zealanders in your country. But Australia is full of them. That is exactly how they speak! I won't post a rather NSFW joke about Kiwis having "six" because that would get me banned. I mean, ASR members already think I am fatphobic! S
My dear Trans-Tasman cousin.

It's strange cause that "six" thing is also how we think you fella's talk when you say for example "six pack"..we hear "sex pack"

So I think we can beg to differ on this and other pronunciations that cause confusion between our two races.

If the human race lasts long enough, I believe inter-breeding between our two countries (such as that which happened between neanderthal and homosapien back in the day) will ensure that a universal "twang" will evolve ensuring when a Kiwi and an Ocker speak, our vowel sounds will be aligned and insync and a new, all conquering super race will come into existence combining the respective strengths of our races.

Regards,

Fat Old Git, Resident ASR Kiwi

PS. Hope my user name doesn't trigger your fatphobia

PS1. Phar Lap was born in NZ as was Russell Crowe, Pavlova was invented in NZ as was The Lamington and the Flat White. These are among many other NZ things that you fellas claim to be yours

To clarify this for those from other countries who pronounce vowels more correctly than either us Kiiwis or our cousins from across the ditch.

Australia says Sex the same way New Zealand says Six but is not the same way the rest of the world says it.

We obviously don't hear it ourselves, but I do cringe when I hear a strong Kiwi accent in international movies and tv shows.

Short shifted vowels are a key feature of the New Zillind (Zealand) accent, the Strayan (Australian) accent is characterised by long gliding vowels.

Our main amusement with the Australian accent is that everything sounds like a question with intonation rising at the end of sentences.

We love the friendly rivalry.
Our favourite team is the All Blacks, and anyone playing against the Wallabies.
We commemorate ANZAC day every year as a public holiday.

It's a zero emission Smart: When she's in it, the key doesn't fit any more, so it makes zero mileage :)
