A Call For Humor!

It should have 'MERGE AHEAD' written so it will appear upside down and vertically squashed to the drivers approaching it? Why would there be a merge that soon after the addition of a new lane anyway?

That's for people, who prefer right-hand traffic.

Also, the US would prefer it to be
AHEAD
MERGE
and I've always found that strange.

1) Obviously this artifact is ancient, but I still thought it was pretty funny.

Love and Marriage 396 - Shall I make the second payment - 1952 by Johnny El-Rady, on Flickr

2)
Only exit.

The ennui in that tiny poem always gets me.
2a) nice.

2b) Reminds me of Baltimore's own Ogden Nash's doggerel poetry.

I'll Take the High Road Commission

In between the route marks
And the shaving rhymes,
Black and yellow markers
Comment on the times.
All along the highway
Hear the signs discourse:
MEN
S L O W
WORKING
;
SADDLE
C R O S S I N G
HORSE
·
Cryptic crossroads preachers
Proffer good advice
Helping wary drivers
Keep out of Paradise.
Transcontinental sermons,
Transcendental talk:
SOFT
C A U T I O N
SHOULDERS
;
CROSS
C H I L D R E N
WALK
·
Wisest of their proverbs,
Truest of their talk,
Have I found that dictum:
CROSS
C H I L D R E N
WALK
·
When Adam took the highway
He left his sons a guide:
CROSS
C H I L D R E N
WALK
;
CHEERFUL
C H I L D R E N
RIDE
·
With thanks to the URL below for saving me the trouble of either scanning it or typing it in. ;)

EDIT: of course, I cannot (quickly) find an example of this very vintage cross walk sign (although I remember them); here's the next best thing (in case the above is too abstruse). ;)

Well this one is a trap.
Ne4 exposes queen. Bxd1
Bb4 check. Ke2*
Bg4 checkmate.

The only way I can see for white to escape checkmate is c2.
Sorry, Chess.com's engine says to take the queen. Once the Bishop takes the pawn on F2, the king simply moves to F3. Chess.com's engine gives White a +5 advantage after that.
