I suddenly find myself thinking of the "African clawed frog", Xenopus laevis.
These were (perhaps still are) much beloved organsims for certain studies in genetics and developmental biology.
They look sort of like large, really limp variants of normal frogs. They're quite large, and I have intense olfactory memories of their quarters (not in a good way).
