@mhardy6647?
with your bucolic New Hampshire forest digs and science acumen, perhaps opine on the differences between a forest grove vs forest glen

I'm not mhardy6647 and don't know the exact definition of either, but I'm fairly certain that a forest glen has the smell of whisky wafting through the air...

Okay I guess that's settled, no comments needed

Well maybe some urbane wit, snarky jab, or pedantic rebuttal this site is famous for

Anybody?

mhardy please return the favor at your first opportunity, hoping your skin is as thick as mine :facepalm: :D
A forest grove is a contradiction in terms while a forest glen is a grammar error.

I think those glens are usually located peripheral to dells, aren't they?

I did not know that a fen was an alkaline swamp. The Back Bay fens are legendary in Boston -- as, of course, is the Fenway. ;)

In terms of the original challenge from my internet colleague @Timcognito, though, and as much as I'd like to show off :facepalm:, all I can really say is:

No problem, I got this one for ya...

A grove is a group of trees that is a) small, and b) uncluttered by undergrowth. Not at all like a forest. So a grove is to a forest kinda like a garden is to a wilderness: a contradiction in terms.

Glen is just another word for a valley, so what's a forest glen? While "forest glen" could become a two-noun combo that stands as one item in the vernacular, as could "forest valley", afaik it is not at present. So without more context I say it's a grammar error and should instead be: forested glen.

Forest Grove is a city in Oregon, Forest Glen is a holiday park near Lock Ness. I don't know their ph.

The CEO of IKEA was just elected Prime Minister in Sweden. He should have his cabinet together by the end of the weekend.
